Board Recognition

Retired Educators

The Board of Education recognized November 7 as Retired Educators Day with the reading of a proclamation. The following members of the Douglas County Retired Educators Association were present: Donald Slate, Elaine Stone and John Stone.
Fairplay Middle School

The players and coaches of the Fairplay Lady Jags softball team were recognized for winning the 2021 Douglas County Middle School Softball Championship. Team members include: Madison Smith, Kennedy Cantrell, Kenzie Townsend, Maddyn Solek, Aleigha Alcala, Lily Grace Pearson, Ana Crawford, Ava Woodham, Ella Bates, Olivia Berry, McKenna Samuelson, Hannah Harris, Kaitlyn Weeks, Ava Pierce, Coach Jordan Mallory and Coach Robert Sheperd. Principal Fhonda Strong is also pictured.
Consent Agenda

The following items were approved:

  • A revision to the 2022-2023 Douglas County School System calendar moving winter break from February 13-17, 2023, to the following week, February 20-24
  • Financial reports for June, July and August 2021
  • Resolution to request assistance from the Georgia Department of Education for the five-year local facilities plan
  • Contract with Atlanta MRO Supply for the refinishing of gym floors throughout the district
  • Contract for replacement of the Chapel Hill High School cooler freezer
  • Contract for external evaluation services for the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant 
  • Certified and classified personnel

Action Agenda

The following item was discussed and approved:
  • Contract with Synovia Solutions for the transportation technology platform

  • Overnight and out-of-state field trips

Also present were Superintendent Trent North; Associate Superintendent of General Administration Dr. Michelle Ruble; Assistant Superintendent of Operations Kwame Carr; Chief Financial Officer Greg Denney; Assistant Superintendent of Student Achievement Melanie Manley; Assistant Superintendent of Student Services Pam Nail; Executive Director of Communications Nell Boggs; and Executive Assistant to the Superintendent Hannah Washington.
