From all of us at Team International Social Service, USA (ISS-USA), we wish you a relaxing Summer's end and a smooth transition into the Fall season. Our office will be closed on Friday, August 31st and Monday, September 3rd in observance of the Labor Day holiday. We will return to our normal hours on Tuesday, September 4th.

ISS-USA Meet and Greet in Washington, DC On Thursday, July 26th, Robyn and Jeremy Bash hosted a Meet and Greet event for ISS-USA at Mi Vida Restaurante in Washington, DC. Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Bash for their beautiful event and to all who attended to learn more about ISS-USA and our work to assist children and families separated across borders. On August 19th, ISS-USA hosted an hour-long Kids Are Waiting Facebook Live Chat with staff members Elaine Weisman and Felicity Sackville Northcott. Casework Corner: Reuniting Families After Deportation Three year old Marianna* was apprehended at the southern U.S. border with her father. She was taken into custody by the Office of Refugee Resettlement, under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, after her father was deported to Guatemala. ISS-USA was asked to assess the safety of her home in Guatemala before she returned. Within a month, ISS-USA’s local partner in Guatemala conducted a home study and found the home to be a safe and healthy environment. Marianna was reunified with her family and ISS-USA continued to link the family to social services in their community to support a lasting and sustainable reintegration. *names and locations have been changed for privacy reasons
