Who are AC4C Youth?

We are a state-wide group of 12-18 year old youth from across the state that get together to make sure that their voice is heard when making decisions on how to educate other youth about substance abuse. We are an Action Team of AC4C.

We usually meet virtually once a month, and when possible, meet in-person a few times per year.    Our next youth meeting is this Thursday, July 9th  at 2 pm.  HERE  is the link to the meeting.

Some of the goals of AC4C that directly involve AC4C Youth include:
  • Develop and start a media campaign to help increase perception of harm of marijuana
  • Work to increase youth minorities' involvement in AC4C youth committee by having a joint meeting with at least one state minority group
  • Support a social media account for youth regarding substance use (Check out our Instagram Page.
  • Train other youth at the 2021 Day on the Hill with focus on mental health & substance use
  • Work on training and/or information to provide to other youth for the statewide Prevention Conference in November
If interested, reach out to your local AC4C member, or email Ryan Doyle at  [email protected] or Jennifer Husmann at  [email protected]

AC4C is a registered 501(c)(3) organization and participation from youth can be counted as Volunteer or Community Service Hours!

 Why I'm an AC4C Member

Lorelle Mueting, Prevention Director at Heartland Family Services and Director of PMP (Prevention Means Progress) Coalition shared this with us during our recent work retreat:

"I am so thankful to be part of AC4C for several reasons.  The work we do in prevention is hard, but being part of AC4C makes it easier.  I love being able to work together across the entire state to network, brainstorm, and find inspiration in what others in prevention are doing.  When we can come together with a statewide prevention mission and voice, it makes our individual prevention messages so much more powerful.  It truly is a collaboration across the state and I am thankful to have developed relationships with other prevention professionals across Iowa through AC4C."
