CIMS Cloud vs. CIMS Desktop
As you may know, over the past few years, Ramaker has been developing a new platform for cemetery management, CIMS Cloud. I wanted to take this opportunity to help explain the difference between our Desktop Software (CIMS Desktop and CIMS Light Desktop) and our Cloud Software (CIMS Cloud and CIMS Light Cloud). With our Desktop Software, all your cemetery data is stored on your computer, or perhaps a server in your office. You are responsible for backing this information up, and also responsible for moving this data to a new computer when a workstation is replaced or a new person comes into your office. In addition, you are responsible for installing updates to the software and making sure they work correctly. With the Cloud platform, all data is stored and backed up by Ramaker & Associates, along with our Cloud host, Amazon Web Services We take care of backing up this data every night, and save 30 days' worth of backups. You access CIMS Cloud or CIMS Light Cloud by opening a web browser and entering your username and password. Your data is secure because you can only access your data if you have the correct username and password. From the time you enter your username to the time you log off, your data is only transmitted over a securely encrypted connection. This means you can safely access your CIMS data from any computer or device that has access to the Internet. It gives you the ability to access your data from home, or even with your smart phone or tablet. It also means that if you get a new computer, you don't have to deal with the headache of transferring the data over. Updates to the software are implemented automatically, with no effort on your part. CIMS Cloud and CIMS Light Cloud both work in a very similar manner to the desktop software, and the clients that have moved to this new platform have had a very smooth transition. Another huge advantage of the CIMS Cloud platform is that it can be configured to have your cemetery data "GPS friendly" and can take advantage of the GPS capabilities of your tablet or phone, and show you where you are standing in the cemetery based on your GPS location. If you are interested in moving your software to the Cloud, please contact our office at 800-332-7532.
