Keeping the city clean and beautiful is a passion of mine and one which is felt by many of our citizens. It's also a mission that cannot be accomplished by just City Council or city staff or residents. It is a joint effort. We lead by your input. Here's what I've noticed over the past couple of months.
1)
The city clean-up in May was a great success. We feel this budget item is a keeper. Having the spring and fall clean-up's allow our residents the ability to have unwanted items hauled away instead of piling up in homes or outside the homes. Again, driving down the road the night before the clean-up shows how important this service is to the residents. Lots of people participate! Thank you.
2)
The public hearing for outdoor storage ordinance was well attended. The Planning Commission has received public support and positive feedback for their proposed clean-up initiative in the residential district. They are actively working on the proposal with plans to bring it to the City Council by the end of summer.
3)
Upcoming projects - This summer we will be seal coating the tennis courts. We are also in the process of replacing the retaining wall on West Arm Road West. Both of these projects are important maintenance items.
4)
Council Members Hughes and Pavot are assessing the current equipment at our public parks to determine if there is a need to upgrade. If you have thoughts on the topic of playground equipment and other equipment at the parks, now is the time to share.
We live in a beautiful area, especially at this time of year. It's wonderful to see people using the trail and parks. Thank you for taking an active role in keeping our city clean and please contact me with your thoughts.
Thank you for electing me to such a great Council,
