"If you surrender completely to the moments as they pass, you live more richly those moments." ~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh
Summertime is here! Do you find it is hard to change your pace and make the summer flow differently than the other seasons? Does surrendering to summer feel scary or sublime? "Surrendering" as in the Anne Morrow Lindbergh's quote is full of intention and courage...can we make a mindful choice to be present a bit more this summer?
Here are a few quick and simple suggestions for more mindful moments this summer:
1. Notice a sunset
2. Enjoy an ice cream cone
3. Paint a rock
4. Pick a wildflower and bring it home to enjoy
5. Listen to a birdsong
I would love to hear about your summertime moments of mindfulness -- what do you do to surrender to summer?
Wishing you a summertime of mindful moments,
Pam

I love to create visual stories. You may have noticed (and hopefully enjoy) the many photos I share on my blog and other social media platforms. . Looking deeply is one way to remain curious of the world around us.
I have started playing in the creative sandbox of Instagram...sharing some of my favorite bits of beauty, words of wisdom, and just random moments on mindfulness and whimsy that make me observe, think and smile.

Stress Resources' Bookshelf
|
|
Here are a couple of books that have arrived on the Stress Resource's bookshelf recently....
My Magic Breath: Finding Calm Through Mindful Breathing by Nick Ortner and Alison Taylor and illustrated by Michelle Polizzi
is a beautiful picture book that guides parent and child through using the breath as a magic tool to work with emotions. Great for teachers to introduce mindfulness into the classroom setting. (Appropriate from preschool to about grade 3)
Irene Butter's
Shores Beyond Shores:
from Holocaust to Hope, my True Story, reminds us that despite tragedy,
hope and resilience are possible.
Irene (Reni) shares her story from the eyes of a child, a teen and an adult; exploring the capacity of humans to do great harm and do great good.
Her story is relevant to today's world as we struggle to find hope and resilience in a divisive world. Much gratitude to Wendy S. for sharing this book with me.
