Stuff the Bus! July 1 - July 31st
|
It's time again to Stuff the Bus! We currently have 417 teachers from six counties respond to us with needs for the upcoming school year. We will be Stuffing the Bus the whole month of July trying to collect all of the needs for these local teachers.
We are working directly with the teachers to fill needs, so we're collecting the following items: child scissors, pencils, markers, crayons, folders, eraser tops, boxes of tissues, colored pencils, Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, dry erase markers, glue sticks, notebooks and craft items (PRE-K). If you can help fill these needs please bring them to any WV Central location so we can Stuff the Bus by the end of July.

PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE CELEBRATION
West Virginia Central Federal Credit Union held a community wide day of giving that covered 5 counties in West Virginia and 1 county in Ohio. On June 19
th, at the Grand Pointe Conference and Reception Center in Vienna, WV Central took time to thank area organizations and their volunteers for their efforts in meeting the needs of our communities.
Over 70 different groups and charities received donations from the credit union that totaled $125,000.00. These groups included food pantries, volunteer fire departments, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, boys and girls clubs, senior groups, groups supporting young people, veteran groups and associations as well as the Habitat for Humanity, Red Cross, Hershel Woody Williams Medal of Honor Foundation, Salvation Army, Old Man Rivers and several Humane Societies.
As WV Central begins to provide membership options to Wood, Pleasants, Wirt, Ritchie and Jackson County in WV and Washington County in Ohio, the members, officials and staff are proud to support the many groups that are giving their time and opening their hearts to those in need of support.
The credit union philosophy of “People Helping People” is alive and well!

Color Me Fun 5K Walk & Run
|
The 5th Annual Color Me Fun 5k Walk & Run was a great success! We raised $9,273.00 for Children's Miracle Health Network. One hundred percent of every dollar received went to help our local hospital,WVU Children's Hospital in Morgantown, WV. The event took place on May 31st in downtown Parkersburg at 7:30 pm. There were approximately 360 participants and over 100 volunteers. We would like to thank our sponsors and volunteers for helping make this event a success.

Skip-A-Payment in August
In August, qualifying members will have the chance to skip a loan payment! Any loan excluding real estate from 8/1 to 8/31. Just pay a $30.00 fee, which helps cover administrative costs and $5.00 will be given to Old Man Rivers charity.

As members, officials and staff of WV Central FCU, we realize how blessed we are to live in our country and have the freedoms that we do. During the month of July, your credit union will be recognizing the men and women serving in our armed forces. This recognition will include families that are waiting here at home for their loved ones.
In July, we will be taking note of a program called “R.E.D.” (Remember Everyone Deployed). On Fridays, staff will be wearing red and will be asking members to wear the color red to let our servicemen and servicewomen know that we have not forgotten them, and that we appreciate their sacrifice for the country.
This program was started by Cecil Cooper, an Army veteran who served deployments to Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm in 1990-91 and Operation Desert Strike in 1996. Mr. Cooper states that, “This movement is focused on the support of the troops and their families and their sacrifices during deployments. With the wearing of red attire on R.E.D. Friday, it’s a common and unified acknowledgement of our service members to let them all know that we have not forgotten them and appreciate their sacrifice to our country.”
So during the month of July, please help us to recognize our heroes that do not always receive proper recognition. Donations will be taken that will be used in support of those deployed. May God bless these men and women!
Also please remember to share with your friends and families that they are now eligible to become members of WV Central. We are now serving Wood, Pleasants, Wirt, Ritchie and Jackson Counties in West Virginia as well as Washington County in Ohio.
To allow us to reach out to these six counties, on June 19
th
WV Central donated $125,000.00 to 70 organizations that work tirelessly to make our communities strong! The event was a great success and we were so pleased to be able to support all the wonderful efforts.
