CBN Highlights
Guest Chef at the Carter Burden Luncheon Club:
Chef Aaron Bludorn from Café Boulud
On May 16, Executive Chef Aaron Bludorn and his team from Café Boulud cooked an amazing gourmet meal for our seniors at the Carter Burden Luncheon Club for senior week. They prepared a delectable menu of Duck Leg à l'Orange with Basmati Rice Pilaf and Braised Fennel, Frisée Salad and a Passionfruit Tart for dessert. A huge thank you to Café Boulud, Chef Aaron, Cherif, and Ashley for making this special day possible!
Intergenerational Concert

On May 6th, The Brick Presbyterian Church Children's Choir visited the Leonard Covello Senior Program in East Harlem and joined our Carter Burden Network Singers in a delightful afternoon of intergenerational song and concert.

The concert was dedicated to Ellsworth G. Stanton III, beloved and esteemed CBN Board Secretary and Brick Church member and Clerk of Session, who passed away in April.

Volunteer Appreciation Event

CBN's Volunteer Services Department threw a Volunteer Appreciation event on May 17th to thank our volunteers for all that they do to support our mission.

In addition, 7 of our senior volunteers were honored as part of the Mayoral Service Recognition Program, which recognizes New Yorkers who volunteer more than 500 hours in a calendar year!
Senior Students Graduate From Technology Class
Another class of senior students graduated from the OATS (Older Adults Technology Services) 10-week computer training program. Congrats grads!

OATS  engages, trains and supports  older adults  in using  technology  to improve their quality of life and enhance their social and civic engagement.
June was National Elder Abuse Awareness Month

June was dedicated to raising awareness about the abuse of the elderly.

Elder Abuse affects both male and female seniors across all income groups, cultures and races.  Victims often suffer in silence because they feel afraid, ashamed, or unaware of how or where to get help.

If you or somebody you know is being abused, see how our Community Elder Mistreatment and Prevention Program (CEMAPP) can help at
Mental Health and Wellness Fair
Thank you to the many vendors who came out to our Roosevelt Island Senior center to provide valuable resources and information on mental health and wellness to our seniors and senior caretakers. This event was co-hosted by the Roosevelt Island Disabled Association.
