Anderson House
Built in 1785, this building houses the parish offices, storage areas and the apartment for the Sexton.
Projected cost: $200,000
Parish House
This larger structure, built in 1869, is home to the kitchen, hospitality area, history display, parlor, and music department.
Projected cost: $300,000
State of Anderson House and Parish House Roofs
The roofs on both structures are experiencing simultaneous deterioration:
  • Rot is pervasive, due to the age of the historic buildings and because of water damage over the years;
  • Tar laced with asbestos is present in both roofs requiring a dedicated abatement process for complete and safe removal;
  • The existing beams and supports have been deemed inadequate to support a new roof, necessitating the replacement and/or augmentation of existing beams.

Raise the Roof
The Raise the Roof Capital Campaign will raise funds to complete the following:
  • Remove the existing roofs on both the Anderson House and Parish House;
  • Safely remove the tar and asbestos;
  • Remove the beams in the Parish House;
  • Install supports in the Anderson House in order to maintain the historic beams, but ensure that they are no longer supporting the weight of the new roof;
  • Construct new beams, decking and membranes in both buildings;
  • Incorporate new slates in both roofs.

Summer Sundays at Christ Church
During the summer while the Junior and Senior Choirs are on hiatus, the 10:00 a.m. service will be enhanced by musical offerings from members of the Christ Church congregation and accompanied by organist S. Gregory Shaffer.

For more information about the music program at Christ Church, visit www.christchurchnewton.org/music .

A Note from the Treasurer
As you make your travel plans for the summer, we respectfully ask all parishioners to be mindful of staying current with pledge payments, if at all possible. During the summer, pledges received by the Church tend to decrease while parishioners are away on vacation, which leaves the Church short on funds to pay its weekly expenses. By arranging to stay current with your pledge, you will be doing your part to minimize the amount of funds the Church must borrow to pay its weekly expenses.
