Dear Colleagues, Alumni and Friends:

It is with great pleasure that I write to you as Chair of the USC Department of Ophthalmology and Co-Director of the USC Roski Eye Institute. I have had the privilege of witnessing the evolution and growth of this department over several decades. Each day we strive to meet the clinical needs of our patients and remain steadfast in our mission to eliminate blindness.

USC Roski Eye Institute continues to be at the forefront of innovations in patient care, basic and translational research, and clinical education.  Through the convergence of medicine and science, we are developing game-changing new treatments and therapies to address the unmet clinical needs of our patients. With greater insight and renewed hope for the future, I look forward to our mission becoming a reality.

Introducing the USC Dry Eye
Center of Excellence
Are you one of the millions of people that suffer from the discomfort of dry eye? At the USC Roski Eye Institute we offer a multidisciplinary, personalized approach to treat your specific dry eye causes and symptoms.

Our unique team of experts is trained in ocular surface disease in addition to the systemic autoimmune conditions that can lead to dry eye, being one of the first centers to analyze your tear film.  Our goal is to get to the root cause of your condition and offer you a long-term solution that will enhance your daily tasks and improve your overall quality of life.
Teen Innovation Entrepreneurship Program
USC Roski Eye Institute hosted 25 local high school students in a two week eye health educational program as part of the Teen Innovation Entrepreneurship Summer Program. Faculty in ophthalmology introduced students to various eye conditions and the latest research and technology in eye care, as well as provided guidance for students interested in pursuing careers in ophthalmology.

Students participated in hands-on activities such as cow eye dissections and peer exams with diagnostic equipment. Students also learned about the global impact of ocular conditions and created solutions to help improve eye health in their local communities.
