Summer 2020 Newsletter
Greetings!

I hope you are staying healthy during these times. For more than four months, we have been social distancing, only seeing each other virtually. Despite these obstacles, I am grateful to see that the LCNV community has been showing a lot of positivity and creativity as we adjust to this “new normal”. While we could not celebrate our end of semester with potlucks, laughter, or hugs as usual, we created  a series of videos and a photo album  to express our heartfelt thanks and  congratulations .

Best,
Roopal Mehta Saran, Executive Director
Way to Go, LCNV Community!
With the development of COVID-19, LCNV transformed all of our classes to online platforms and successfully completed our teaching and learning during the spring semester. As pleased as we have been by the effectiveness of this new teaching method, we are more touched by the dedication, devotion, and resilience stirred by the current situation from our staff, instructors, volunteers, and especially our students.

Since we cannot express our heartfelt thanks in person, we prepared the following videos to congratulate our students, say thank you to our instructors, and express our gratitude to all of LCNV’s volunteers and to everyone that supported our community in another successful school year!
Bridging Literacy Across Isolation
Recently, we interviewed our instructors and students to take a closer look into the Distance Learning classrooms. As the teachers and students commented, it was a process where they “grew together, and all learned about something new.” “I think that has been a huge accomplishment for LCNV to continue bringing education to students in a different approach during this difficult time,” says Karen at the end of the semester, “Students are definitely the beneficiaries of that, and the technology they learned are easily transferable in their lives”.
LCNV Receiving National Attention!
LCNV has recently been featured in two national reports, Amplifying Impact: Why policies that combine investments in English language and digital literacy are vital by the National Skills Coalition; and Building a Digitally Resilient Workforce: Creating On-Ramps to Opportunity by Digital US.
