Portland Chapter Hosted YP Virtual Happy Hour
June 28,2020
Last month, the Portland Chapter hosted a Free YP virtual happy hour event which included quarantined themed trivia and raffle prizes. The group utilized Zoom break-out rooms which allowed for more personal interaction between team members for socializing and networking. The event was able to raise $110 for local organization Harbor for Hope.
Congratulations to Nora Aguirre, for winning a 1-year membership. A special thank you to DLR Group and Hennebery Eddy Architects for donating prizes for the raffle. The DBIA NWR Promotions committee is planning on hosting another YP Virtual happy hour in October. We hope to see you there.

2018 Scholarship Winner Interns for Local Contractor
|
|
Josiah Cline was awarded $2,500 scholarship in 2018 through ACE Mentor Program of Washington which was funded by DBIA NW. Using his DBIA networking connections, Josiah landed an internship position with Lease Crutcher Lewis primarily working on UW Health Sciences Education Building in Seattle, WA.
When asked how DBIA NW and the scholarship has helped him in his education and career goals Josiah said “DBIA has given me a networking connection that has served me well within the industry already. The scholarship itself has helped offset the cost of attending a college out of state and allowed me to pursue study abroad in Europe.”
Josiah is going into his fifth year at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA where he is studying architecture and mathematics. Last year he spent seven months in Europe learning architecture and design in Copenhagen and brings previous experience from MG2 Design in Seattle. After he graduates next year, Josiah plans on working for a GCCM or architecture firm for a few years while getting his architecture license.
