WVCA Spotlight: Virtual Summer Program
WVCA has many different programs designed to help each unique child reach their full potential. This month our "Spotlight" is on our Virtual Summer Program.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, WVCA made the switch to virtual education and teletherapy. Our talented teachers and therapists have been hard at work all Summer creating new lessons, filming videos and offering “Zoom” therapy and classroom sessions.

The transition to virtual education and therapy has been a challenge for parents, staff and students. However, we have adjusted to this “new normal” and are committed to providing the tools, supplies, and support that our students need during this time.

We also want to thank the numerous WVCA supporters who donated to our Virtual Summer Program . Your generosity has helped make this new virtual education and therapy program possible – thank you from all of us here at WVCA!

Wish List 2020
Due to COVID-19 safety procedures, WVCA needs to purchase additional classroom supplies to ensure the health and safety of our students. We are proud to launch our 2020 Wish List to help our classrooms with these purchases!

  • We are looking to purchase multiple sets of crayons, glue sticks, scissors and pencil cases to reduce the sharing of these commonly used items.
  • Additionally, we need to purchase more classroom activities that children can play with individually, like easily cleanable blocks, toys, and puzzles.

New this year, we have created an Amazon Wish List , to make purchasing and donating these items easier for our donors. We also are still accepting monetary donations and our goal is to raise $500.00 per classroom.

Kindergarten Enrollment
Wyoming Valley Children’s Association is now enrolling for Fall 2020-2021 Kindergarten classes . We launched our successful Kindergarten for the first time in 2019, and the program continues to grow.

WVCA’s Kindergarten creates an environment rich in learning and social opportunities. Our unique, inclusive classrooms focus on individual growth and development for each and every student. We pride ourselves on being inclusive – as we serve children with a variety of developmental conditions, as well as typically developing children.

Announcement from the E xecutive Director
As our community faces unprecedented challenges, WVCA continues to strive towards our mission of student success. I specifically want to emphasize that we are still here for our students and families and are committed to providing needed supplies, services and support.

Due to the pandemic, our Summer program was switched into a virtual format. WVCA students are now receiving their education and therapy services remotely. We also opened our doors for child care services this Summer and are strictly following all health and safety procedures.

As we move into the Fall, I fully recognize the hardships that our families have had to endure due to this ongoing health crisis. So, I am pleased to announce that we will be freezing our tuition prices for our families for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year . Typically, tuition prices are adjusted for cost of living increases each year. I hope that this small gesture will help aid families who may be struggling during this time.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please reach out to me at any time at [email protected] or 570-714-1246. From all of us here at WVCA, continue to stay safe and healthy!

With Gratitude,

Nina DeiTos Zanon

Renovation Project
WVCA is excited to announce a renovation project that has been months in the making. Below we have included before and after photos that demonstrate the impact this renovation has made on our facility.

Made possible through the generous grant awards by the PNC Foundation and the Willary Foundation, we have been able to completely renovate our basement which is used as our indoor gross motor area .

Due to these grant donations, WVCA was able to install new flooring, our staff was able to give the entire space a fresh coat of paint, and we were able to purchase new safety items, gross motor equipment and divider walls.

Additionally, WVCA has partnered with one of the area’s most talented local artists, Leigh Pawling, to give the space a custom mural which will bring countless smiles to our student's faces for years to come.

Thanking Our Dedicated Supporters
It is clear that we are living in unprecedented times; however, the outpouring of support and generosity from our local community has been heartwarming and overwhelming. Thank you to the organizations, individuals and corporations who have supported WVCA and immensely helped our students, families and staff.

A special thank you to:

W VCA's 2019-2020 Fiscal Year Donors
Ronald McDonald House Charities
WVCA Child Care Parents
...and many more

Without community and individual support, WVCA would not be able to achieve our mission and help so many children each year. Thank you!

WVCA Spotlight Video:
Due to COVID-19, WVCA was sadly unable to host our traditional graduation ceremony.

However, each graduate was given a graduation yard sign, activity bundle AND we created this amazing video celebrating our graduating students. View it below!
