Christ Church Women
Monthly Meetings
The July meeting of the Christ Church Women's group is scheduled for Thursday, July 15th, 11:30 a.m., at Christ Church.

We will join with members of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church for a picnic and meeting at Swartswood Lake Picnic Pavilion on Thursday, August 19th, 11:30 a.m. The park entrance is at 1091 E. Shore Drive, Swartswood, NJ, 07877. Carpooling from the church is available for those in need.

Keeping in Touch Ministry
Utilizing the personal gift of note cards, the Keeping in Touch ministry unites and empowers Christ Church Women to share and build their faith, reach out to the community and beyond, and act as a spiritually nurturing force. By expressing the sentiments and compassion necessary for human connection, these cards represent tokens of love for those experiencing loss, illness, recovery, and isolation, as well as acknowledging appreciation, gratitude, and celebration.

On Friday, June 25th, at 7:00 p.m. all Christ Church Women are invited to gather to help create Keeping in Touch greeting cards to be used to stay connected with parishioners in need. No artistic talent is necessary! To RSVP, or for more details about the event, email Diana Greene at [email protected].

Preparation of the newly-created Keeping in Touch ministry cards will take place immediately following the 10:00 a.m. service on Sundays, July 18th and August 22nd.

Alternative dates and times for quarterly meetings to allow those who are unable to attend the monthly gatherings are being discussed. To offer a suggestion, or to volunteer to coordinate an activity, contact Diana Greene at [email protected].
Christ Church Book Club
The Christ Church Book Club will meet on Thursday, July 29th, at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom to discuss Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird."

Sunday Servers & Brunch in a Bag Volunteers
Those who have volunteered to provide flowers, support the worship of the Sanctuary, serve as Lectors, Ushers, Acolytes, Crucifers or on the Altar Guild, or assist with the Sunday Brunch in a Bag program can check their schedule on the Christ Church website.
Manna House Volunteers
Christ Church provides volunteers to Manna House at the First Presbyterian Church of Newton on the 4th Wednesday of each month. Summer volunteer opportunities are on July 28th and August 25th. Those interested in volunteering are invited to call Laura Booker, 973-384-7635. At this time, meals are distributed at the door with limited volunteers due to public health guidelines.
Altar Guild
The new flower committee is off and running! If you are interested in a beautiful, rewarding ministry, contact Alex Zander ([email protected]) to be assigned to a team immediately. You do not have to be a current member of the Altar Guild, but you will become a member upon volunteering for flower duty. If you are unsure of your skills, you will be trained by experienced arrangers and you will not be expected to work alone.

Parishioners are encouraged to contribute toward the purchase of the flowers on the altar in order to commemorate a special occasion or loved one; Sanctuary Lights or Candles, $20; Altar Flowers, $50. Contact Alex Zander at [email protected] or contact the church office to offer flowers or make a monetary donation.
Let's Have Some Coffee Together!
It's time to bring back Coffee Hour! Eating and drinking together at Coffee Hour is easy - and so is hosting it! Volunteers are paired with each other and assigned hosting duties every few months. Christ Church provides coffee, tea, and paper products; hosts are responsible for providing a selection of tasty treats. Financial assistance is available. Contact the church office at 973-383-2245 or [email protected] if you are willing to lend a helping hand.
Well Done, Good & Faithful Servants!
  • Kurt Lutz, Nick Pachnos, and Mike and Denise Streeter for organizing, shopping, setting up and cleaning up the parish picnic;
  • Geordie Compton and our dedicated Brunch in a Bag crew who have tirelessly fed the hungry throughout this pandemic;
  • All those who faithfully continued their financial support of our parish during the pandemic, even while the building was closed;
  • Nick Pachnos for overseeing the installation of the audio-visual system and handling our live-stream service each week;
  • Alex Zander and the new flower arrangement committee for the stunning floral arrangements for the altar. Since the flowers are culled primarily from parishioners gardens, the endeavor saves the church a significant amount of money every week.
