It is thrilling to see the beginning of a 4-H year that will be almost back to normal. In the office, we are preparing for enrollment 2021 and creating the 2021-2022 calendar which will have almost all in-person events!

I believe I can speak for everyone when I say how excited we are to 'reopen' and begin a year that looks more like ones we fondly remember!

That said, a detailed account of the recently revised COVID-19 Safety Guidelines will be shared with club leaders at the Annual CCL Meeting and shared with the rest of the 4-H community shortly thereafter. The current guidelines (which are being updated, can be found here).

Annual Calendar
Our 2021-2022 annual calendar is nearing completion and will be sent out prior to the September Cloverleaf. We're excited to have a year that can be planned 'normally' once again! 
County Ambassador App
We are reopening the application process for County Ambassadors after members expressed renewed interest in applying over the summer. Below is all of the information you will need!

Due: September 3rd, 2021
Interviews: September 9th, 2021
4hOnline 2.0 & Enrollment
4hOnline 1.0 Rollover and Migration to 4-H Online 2.0
 
This is a reminder that family login level access to the 4hOnline 1.0 system was turned off on June 30th at 12pm. In the weeks preceding rollover, a notice will be added to the 4hOnline login page to alert all users when the system will be offline. We anticipate family login level access will be restored around August 16th.
 
The increased system downtime is due to UC ANR 4-H migrating to 4-H Online 2.0. This new enrollment database has undergone major updates to improve functionality and ease of use.

Delay Enrollment until September 1
Families and volunteers will not have access to either system from June 30 - August 16, 2021. Families are encouraged to delay re-enrollment for the 2021-2022 program year until September 1, 2021 so county staff can have learn the system and troubleshoot questions.
 
If enrollment or re-enrollment is necessary during the interim period the system is offline, your county staff will work with you to complete the enrollment process.
 
Please note: any early enrollments into 4-H Online 2.0 before the official opening of the system into 4-H Online 2.0 (August 16) will be deleted. All dates listed are subject to change based on our vendor and UC ANR 4-H needs. Any changes will be broadly communicated by the State 4-H Office.

eXtension Learning Management System Updates
 
eXtension Campus is the learning management system (LMS) for the California 4-H Youth Development Program. The system offers a broad range of interesting and diverse online courses for individuals of all ages. To access a list of all the online courses offered through the CA 4-H State Office, visit the CA 4-H Learning and Development page. 
 
Below is a list of some new features and course updates designed to increase the quality of the user experience:
·    Mobile App available for phones, tablets, and desktop computers (Limited course offering in first year pilot). 
·    Ability to create multiple eXtension accounts from a shared email address.
·    Simplified course structure on annual New and Returning Volunteer Courses.
·    New Support Website with video and written tutorials.
·    Updated Support Ticketing System.
·    Short, anonymous user-feedback surveys for each lesson/course offered.
 
Annual New and Returning Volunteer Courses
As mentioned above, the New & Returning Volunteer Courses have been revised with a simplified course structure for the 2021-2022 program year. Also, these courses are part of the mobile app pilot! The updated courses will be available July 1, 2021 – June 29, 2022, in the eXtension system. You can learn more about the appointment/re-appointment process, how to access the courses, and information about the new mobile app using the following links:

Awards Night
Below is a list of those individuals who would have been recognized at Awards Night last year had we been able to hold the event. This graphic has been placed in the Butte County Farm Bureau Monthly Publication, and the Butte County 4-H Facebook Page as well. Congratulations to everyone for their hard work and dedication!
4-H Camp 2021
Butte County 4-H held a day camp this year in lieu of our overnight event, and it was a tremendous success. It was held for four days at the end of June at Durham Park. Our team of teen counselors shifted gears and implemented new programming in a different location for a week that often follows tradition and routine template. Thanks to all of our campers who enjoyed a fun and historic Butte County 4-H Camp, we hope to you back at Camp Rockin' U next year!
4-H Horse Show
Butte County 4-H hosted a horse show for the first time in nearly a decade and it was a major success. Shasta 4-H Horse Project Leader Maisie Cousins led the effort to restore this event, and attendance was as high as it was the last time we held this event. Wheeler Ranch & Feed of Biggs, CA hosted the event, and numerous sponsors helped make it possible for High Point winners to receive belt buckles, and each attendee to receive prizes to take home.

Butte County Fair
The Butte County Fair is happening!

Council Meeting
  • Council meetings will resume in person this year. The Butte County Farm Bureau moved locations and is no longer able to accommodate us. We are going to try and finalize meeting locations at the different branches of the Butte County Library, but the Library is updating its room reservation software, so the first couple of meetings may need to take place virtually. An update will be provided at the Annual CCL Meeting on August 10th, and subsequently shared with the rest of our 4-H Community.
