How Can I Generate Business Using My BBB® Accreditation?
Get a Quote from a BBB Accredited Business
One of the most powerful and effective ways to generate real business from your accreditation is to engage potential customers with BBB's Get a Quote feature. Get a Quote offers consumers the opportunity to obtain quotes for services, estimates, proposals, or general information directly through your BBB Business Profile or a Get a Quote seal on your website. This feature is available to BBB Accredited Businesses only, so please take advantage of your benefits of accreditation!

Get a Quote is available to all BBB Accredited Businesses that provide a valid email where inquiry requests can be sent. You also have the option to be notified via text message.

If you wish to activate this feature, need your email address updated, or want to retrieve the code to put the seal on your website, log into your BBB Business portal here. Please feel free to contact Hailey Reczka at hreczka@newyork.bbb.org or (212) 358-2816 if you have any questions.

NEWS:
Pandemic Recovery Grants for NYS Small Businesses
woman turning Open for Business sign in window
Good news! New York State has recently announced the opportunity to apply for a COVID-19 Pandemic Small Business Recovery Grant Program. These are grants intended to help small businesses that have experienced economic hardship during the pandemic. Grant awards range from $5,000 to $50,000, based on the applicant business revenues in 2019 (subject to change).

Important note: the Empire State Development website for this business grants program currently has a warning notice posted, which states that “Lendistry is the sole entity designated as the Administrator of the New York State COVID-19 Pandemic Small Business Recovery Grant Program (the “Program”). This site (nysmallbusinessrecovery.com) and other websites available on or through this site (the “Designated Sites”) are the only approved websites designated for the administration of the Program. Any other website purporting to administer or otherwise act as an Administrator in connection with the Program may be fraudulent.” Please be alert and avoid scammers who may try to imitate this business grants program to steal identity information or commit other crimes.

Applications for grants under this New York State Pandemic Recovery program are currently being accepted. You can view all eligibility and application details on this website: https://nysmallbusinessrecovery.com/. For further information and help, applicants may call the Empire State Development Call Center at 877-721-0097, Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm (except posted holiday times).

Information about additional New York State recovery programs for businesses is available online through this website: https://esd.ny.gov/business-pandemic-recovery-initiative.
New SEO Updates to Enhance Web Visibility of BBB Accredited Businesses
During the pandemic consumers flocked to BBB even more as their trusted source of business information. In 2020, consumers turned to BBB Metro New York over 9.1 million times to view BBB Business Profiles and Charity Reports, a big increase of 23.9% above the volume of about 7.3 million in 2019.

Google, one of the primary sources of traffic to the BBB.org website, has recently changed some aspects of its functionality. In view of this, a team of BBB’s national search engine optimization (SEO) experts have been hard at work behind the scenes, preparing the BBB website to drive even more consumer traffic to BBB business and consumer information. The process is “iterative” – so as we learn more, we’ll enhance even more. Bottom line: we look forward to delivering even better value for BBB Accredited Businesses and consumers! Thank you for continuing to show your integrity to customers as a BBB Accredited Business.
BBB Research Helps to Protect You
Better Business Bureau has become a hugely valuable source of research data and reporting on fraud prevention issues, for the protection of businesses and consumers. BBB investigative studies are published here. The most recent report is an update about how sweepstakes and lottery scams misuse the names of legitimate businesses to rip off consumers, many of them elderly people who cannot afford the hundreds – even thousands - of dollars they lose to such con artists.

These studies generate lots of media news stories. This helps to get consumer and business protection messages out to people so they can find out about scams. Check out BBB’s study reports to learn more about scammer tactics and how to defeat them!
