Hello everyone,
Welcome to the first Comstock Library e-Newsletter! We’re so happy for the chance to connect with you on all the latest library news and events.
I’ve served as the Director of Comstock Township Library since September 2019, coming on board when the previous director, Myla Stuart, retired. I grew up in southwest Michigan and have worked in public libraries for over 20 years now. I’ve held a variety of roles including as a children’s librarian, branch manager, department head, and as a librarian with the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. I’ve very much enjoyed my work at Comstock Library thus far. The library staff and I have many plans to continue growing and expanding our library services to the community.
In early 2020 Comstock became a fine-free library. This means we no longer charge fines for overdue materials, with the exception of mobile hotspots and Playaway Launchpads. If you have long overdue library items you can now bring them back without penalty, or if you have just not visited the library in a long time, we welcome you back.
Our Summer Reading Program, “Tails & Tales,” launched on June 1. You can register online or in-person at the library—it’s an all ages event that offers everyone the chance to earn and win awesome prizes while enjoying your summer reads.
I hope you’ll take some time to stop by and visit the library this summer, either in-person or online. Curbside pick-up service is still available for anyone who doesn’t wish to come in the building. You can always visit our website to use our digital services. You can even sign-up online for a digital library card that will give you access to digital books, audiobooks, and videos. Have a great summer!
