Multi-Family Developments in
Pre-Development Vista Sunrise II
CVHC was awarded the following funding awards to assist with the construction of the Vista Sunrise II development, a 61-unit special needs housing development in the City of Palm Springs, Ca.
  •     $900,000 from the FHL Bank of San Francisco Affordable Housing Program.

  •      $5,769,577 in No Place Like Home funds from the State department of Housing and Community Development.

Oasis Villas Development

The Coachella Valley Housing Coalition was awarded $100,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the County of Riverside to assist with the construction of the medical clinic that will be constructed as part of the commercial development portion of the Oasis Villas community. 

The development will be located on Avenue 66 & Middleton Street in Thermal, CA.

COVID-19 vaccines

In partnership with the Desert Healthcare District and Borrego Health, CVHC provided residents the opportunity to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine eligibility widened to include those 12 years and older.


CVHC offered the Pfizer vaccine for CVHC youth and adults along with the J&J vaccine at Coyote Run I Apartments in Palm Springs, Arroyo de Paz I Apartments in Desert Hot Springs, and Wolff Waters Place Apartments in La Quinta.
 



CVHC adults also had the opportunity to receive their first or second doses of the Moderna or the single dose of the J&J vaccine at Las Casas III in Coachella and Paseo de los Heroes III in Mecca.

Meet Head of Grants
Bruce Yeager

Bruce Yeager recently joined the CVHC team as the Head of Grants.
Bruce brings 40 years of business experience to the position. He has held senior positions in healthcare business development and consulting, healthcare clinic development and management, and health services resource- and grant-development. A decade of small business ownership in the hospitality industry contributed to Bruce’s business expertise. Bruce holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Penn State, and a Master’s degree in Public Health from UCLA.
He and his wife are 31 year residents of the Coachella Valley and have two grown sons and two grandchildren. 
CVHC appoints Pedro S.G.Rodriguez as
the Interim Executive Director
On June 10th, 2021, the Board of Directors of the Coachella Valley Housing Coalition appointed Mr. Pedro S. G. Rodriguez, as the Interim Executive Director. Mr. Rodriguez has been with CVHC since July 1995 serving in the capacity of Controller for 9 years and Chief Financial Officer for 16 years. Mr. Rodriguez has a deep understanding of the complexities of managing a Nonprofit affordable housing organization both administratively and financially. He understands the development process for both single family and multifamily and has full knowledge of the Asset and Property management needs of the multifamily developments. During his 25 years with CVHC he has developed great relationships with funders, investors, lenders, vendors and partners of the organization. Mr. Rodriguez served as a member of the leadership team that managed the day to day operations of CVHC during the Sabbatical leave of the founding Executive Director. Prior to joining CVHC he held positions as Senior Auditor with a CPA firm that specializes in Nonprofit organizations and as the Fiscal Officer for a Federally funded Community Health Center that provided primary care to low income families. Mr. Rodriguez firmly believes in the mission of CVHC and is committed to the continued success of the organization. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting, and a minor in Spanish from San Diego State University, and an Associate of Arts Degree, from College of the Desert. He and his wife have 6 children, and 3 grandchildren. He is active in various community groups in the Coachella Valley and has been an active coach and referee for the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) in Indio and La Quinta for 25 years. 
Food Distribution Events with the UFWF

CVHC has partnered with the United Farm Workers Foundation (UFWF) to coordinate food distributions in the Eastern Coachella Valley. Resident Services were able to coordinate three (3) food distribution events on June 4, 11, and 25th at Paseo de los Heroes II in Mecca and Villa Hermosa Apartments in Indio. 400 emergency food boxes with milk, vegetables, and meat were distributed among families and residents. UFWF also gave 250 gift cards of $25.00 to residents at Fred Young Labor Camp for household use.

CVHC will continue working alongside the UFWF towards creating access to these resources, especially for those that are unable to leave their home due to the pandemic or other underlying issues. 
Farmworkers Institute of Education & Leadership Development (FIELD) Program

FIELD’s Graduation 
CVHC has continued its partnership with Farmworkers Institute of Education & Leadership Development (FIELD) Program at Villas Oscar, Desert Gardens, and Arroyo de Paz Apartments.

FIELD is a non-profit organization founded and established in 1978 by farmworker leader Cesar E Chavez. Cesar’s ultimate vision was to inspire farmworkers & the rural workforce to gain self-sufficiency through employee owned social enterprises.

FIELD had 26 students that completed the program and received their high school diploma.
