Istvan's Landing - A Celebration for Public Works Coordinator Istvan Lovas' 25th Year Work Anniversary
Istvan Lovas began working as the Town's Public Works Coordinator in 1997. As a celebration of his 25th work anniversary this year, the town dedicated the NE 42nd St end as "Istvan's Landing" and had a public celebration at Town Hall in May.

Flynn Boettcher, J.J. Pendergast and Sam Hellings are the three Public Works Interns this year. These guys are helping keep the plantings along 92nd Ave NE alive this summer including other field related ground care.

Meet Flynn: I went to Bellevue HS. My grandparents live on Yarrow Point and I have memories always going to the 4th of July parade. I will be going to Loyola Marymount University this year.
Meet Sam: I graduated from Bellevue High School last fall and I’ve lived in Yarrow Point my entire life. I will be attending San Diego State University next year.

This is a friendly reminder to maintain a tight 24-hour window surrounding the designated date for pickup by the waste hauler.
Please remove your bins (and especially any excess waste) from the right-of-way and onto your private property promptly after the bins are emptied, even if items were not successfully retrieved, to avoid obstructing the right-of-way or encouraging unhealthy festering.
For questions, please contact Deputy Clerk Austen Wilcox at Town Hall.

Appreciation for David and Marian Bergey for Installing the Town's Swim Line
Resident David Bergey has graciously offered his help for installing the town's swim line at Road End Beach each year.
We thank David and his wife, Marian, for their volunteer work to complete this task along with their countless hours devoted to the Wetherill Nature Preserve.
David will train and transition this important task over time to helpful committee members Jon Roskill (shown here with David at Road End Beach), Shishir Pardikar, Darryl Carver and a few other residents yet to volunteer.

Keeping our Stormwater Clean this Summer
Please remember to keep our stormwater systems clean. You can do this by keeping fertilizers and pesticide pollutants out. Please see the " Natural Lawn Care Guide" for alternative paths.

Council Receiving $2,000,000.00 Water District Check
The Board of Commissioners for King County Water District Number 1 found that it was in the best interest of its constituents to dissolve the District and transfer the cash assets held by the District to the Town to be used solely for the purposes of undergrounding utilities and improving street lighting within the service area of the King County Water District 1. The Town of Yarrow Point Council approved Resolution Number 362, allocating the KCWD1 funds to be used for the benefit of the District customers for a long lasting, impactful project – undergrounding utilities and improving street lighting on 94th Ave and 95th Ave. These projects are under way now. The first phase will be 94th Ave, to be completed by the end of 2024.

Reminder: Please Maintain the Landscaping In Front of Your Property to the Right of Way
The Town is very appreciative of your efforts to maintain the landscaping on town Rights Of Way (ROW) in front of your property. Your time, attention, and maintenance allows the town to retain a liberal ROW policy that results in the community feel and look we all enjoy. With this in mind, we rely on all of you to ensure plants and trees do not encroach onto the pavement corridor and thereby affect the ability of vehicles to safely navigate our streets.
The pavement corridor is considered to be from one edge of pavement to the other edge of pavement horizontally and then 14 feet vertically. We are asking that you please trim back vegetation 1-foot behind the edge of the pavement and 14-feet up vertically. This will ensure that trees, shrubs and landscaping in the right of way and adjoining property do not interfere with the free passage of vehicles and pedestrians.
With this notification, we are asking that you please trim back vegetation 1-foot behind the edge of the pavement and 14-feet up vertically. This will ensure that trees, shrubs and landscaping in the right of way and adjoining property do not interfere with the free passage of vehicles and pedestrians or cause any risk of danger to the public or property.

Resident Dylan Bear Providing Public Comment Regarding the Town Hall Pickleball Court Resurfacing
Resident Dylan Bear among other residents took the podium at the July Council meeting to advocate for properly repairing the Town's sport court. The Town is currently researching options and receiving quotes to have the sport court redone in the spring of 2023.
Please remember when purchasing items ESPECIALLY BIG TICKET ITEMS, to use Yarrow Point as your address. The Town will be able to collect the sales tax as revenue which will allow the Town to make improvements directly effecting you!
Please be respectful and clean your catch at home, not on our public pier.

New Outgoing USPS Mailbox Installed Along 92nd Ave NE!
Some residents may remember a Blue Outgoing USPS mailbox at the former "Kiss-N-Ride" prior to the new roundabout. The reason why USPS would not reinstall it is because they claimed that it did not receive enough use to warrant replacement. This has been an inconvenience for many years to Yarrow Point residents despite our efforts to convince USPS to reinstall it over the course of several years.
Thanks to Mayor Harris' pestering efforts, working with the Bellevue Carrier Annex and the Postmaster, we have our own Blue Outgoing USPS mailbox on 92nd Ave NE @ NE 36th St.
Thank you, Katy!
