Greetings to AMFA members, associates, and friends!
It’s always great to back to summertime in Minnesota!
You can’t think about summer in Minnesota without thinking about golf. The 26th annual AMFA Golf Social will be held on June 3 at Cloquet Country Club. The event is an 18 hole 4-person scramble. We need you to sign up a team of golfers or become a sponsor right away. Your participation is very important as this is the biggest fundraiser for AMFA and we have a goal to raise $15,000 to benefit youth manufacturing programs in the region! Northeast Minnesota CTE Jamboree
November 2024

The Northeast Minnesota Career and Technical Education (CTE) Jamboree will be held in November. Date and location TBD. Manufacturing CTE teachers from high schools and colleges in the Arrowhead region are invited to attend. Manufacturers who would like to get acquainted with local CTE instructors are also invited to attend.

| AMFA Northeast Minnesota Teacher Summit - Success! |
45 educators from across the Arrowhead region attended the AMFA Northeast Minnesota Manufacturing Teacher Summer at Clyde Iron Works on April 24!
Participants heard from best-practice partnerships including Wabtec/L&M Radiator, Inc. with their work-based training program; Cloquet in-school Lumberjack Design & Fabrication and Grand Rapids student run businesses and teacher externships.
The day also included collaboration and discussion around student projects, classroom assignments and business partnerships.
A special thank you to the Northeast Service Cooperative for providing funding for transportation, substitute teachers and lunch.
Congrats to the entire collaborative team who put the event together!

AMFA Beverage Tasting 2024-Success! |
We had a great night at the 11th annual AMFA Beverage Tasting on April 24 at Clyde Iron Works. We sampled beverages from Klockow Brewing Company, Earth Rider Brewery, Blacklist Brewing Company, Canal Park Brewing Company, and Hoops Brewing.
Linda Kingston from Lake Superior College was our big winner, and she donated her portion back to AMFA!

| Welcome Carolyn Petruga, Executive Assistant! |
Carolyn has joined MMA part-time after spending several years in the offices of public education assisting students, parents, and staff. Prior to that she worked as an executive assistant and legal assistant in the Twin Cities.
Carolyn lives in Duluth, Minnesota with her husband Jim, who was once a board member of AMFA and MMA. They have two adult children, one living in Duluth and the other in Chicago.
In Carolyn’s free time you will find her enjoying outdoor activities, this includes riding her horse through the beautiful trails of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota. She also loves spending time with family and friends, especially during their weekly board game night.

Your business may qualify for a training grant program that helps offset training-related expenses. Below is a listing of grant programs DEED is highlighting right now:
- MJSP Partnership Grant of up to $400,000
- Automation Training Incentive Program (ATIP) Grant of up to $35,000
- Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) Grant of up to $200,000.
