Hope-Mongering parent/caregiver support sessions

This month:

JoAnne Robb is back!

November 16 @ 7pm on Zoom

One of our favorite T1D parent supporters joins us again. This time, therapist JoAnne Robb will talk about her workshop, Parenting for Resilience.

We all know that our kids struggle with diabetes, either with the diagnosis itself or with the management. How can we let them know that we do understand their pain and their challenges? And if we do that, how can we also guide them towards the diabetes behaviors that we know they need to engage in?

In this session, based on JoAnne's free webinar, you will learn a powerful tool to help you parent through some of these tricky moments. We’ll use a Validation tool to help your child feel that you really get their experience. Learn how to really hear what your kid is saying to you and reflect that back to them so they feel heard. Research shows that skillful validation is a way to help regulate emotions, something we deeply want for our T1D kids.

About Hope-Mongering:

Each month we recruit an array of key voices to host a series of conversations: parents, young adults who grew up with T1D, health coaches, educators, dietitians, T1D doctors and nurses, and of course the GCC summer camp crew. It's a magic formula for conversation on raising a young person with T1D. We'd love for you to join us and add your voice, or just sit back and listen. Feel free to bring topics or questions.

The Helping Time of Year

Gales Creek Camp is more than just a fun place for hundreds of kids with type 1 diabetes each summer. It's a permanent home and a place of ultimate belonging.

Right now, kids are navigating a challenging world, and type 1 makes that so much more complicated. But GCC is there for them, and that is only possible because of supporters like you.

This year, when the giving mood comes to you, please consider sending a financial gift to the kids of Gales Creek Camp. If you're already ready, click here!
