As I look back on this year, my heart is filled with gratitude for the overwhelming love and support we’ve received.
Why are we called Bags & Blessings?
Sixteen years ago I wanted to pay it forward and offer a gift bag to someone who was ready to "quit" and didn't have any fight left. So I gathered what I could and gave out 15 gift bags. As time went on, I learned more about health and wellness and more about cancer. I knew I needed to change what we put in the bags. So, I went to the Health Hut and spoke to my friend Kelly Miller. We went through the store and focused on items that could help people in treatment with cancer.
In 2012, through our partnership with the Health Hut, we were able to give out bags that contained all natural organic products and it has continued to grow every year. We are very proud to present a bag of healthy products to help patients combat side effects of treatment. While treatment can be a difficult journey, it's the support of a caring community that makes all the difference. That’s why we continue to rally as a community — and one of the most inspiring ways we do that is through our annual 5K Walk/Run. Our annual 5K Walk/Run is more than just a fundraiser — it's a powerful community event that brings us together to support and uplift those undergoing cancer treatment. The money we raise through this event allows us to continue creating and distributing these beautiful bags filled with organic, natural products each year — and we can’t do it without you! This past Christmas, bags were distributed to 150 people!
