Bishop Kelly's Summer Academic Boot Camps are designed to help BK students feel confident and prepared for academics at Bishop Kelly High School. These workshops are especially helpful for incoming Freshman who want to review and improve their math, writing, and study skills before beginning high school this fall. Incoming Sophomores can also benefit from these academic workshops, especially if they found their first year at BK to be more challenging than expected.

For students at any grade level who want something engaging and fun to do this summer, we are offering Artistic Creations Camp.

Session I: June 12th-15th (Mon-Thurs)

Writing LaunchPad 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

(Cost: $100)

This one week course will help students with basic writing principles and skills that will help them prepare to be successful writers at Bishop Kelly. The content of the course will cover the generally accepted writing structure of claim, evidence and commentary, which is used in all content areas at Bishop Kelly, and in AP classes. Students will work on generating, organizing and editing their writing. This course will be taught by BK English Faculty.

Academic Survival Skills 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

(Cost: $100)

This one week course will help students with basic academic skills needed for basic survival at Bishop Kelly. The content of the course will cover skills such as note taking, organization strategies and tools, reading and annotation, study skills and memorization techniques, and test taking strategies. 

Math Foundations LaunchPad 9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m

(Cost: $150)

This one week course will help students fill in mathematical gaps and misunderstandings to help them prepare for and be successful in Algebra 1. Critical skills like Expressions and Combining Like Terms, Expressions vs. Equations, Combining Like Terms in Equations, and Cross multiplying vs. Multiplying Fractions vs. Dividing Fractions will be covered. This course will be taught by BK Math Faculty.

Artistic Creations Camp 9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m.

(Cost: $150)

This Artistic Creations Camp will focus on 3D sculpting with clay. Students will receive a wonderful introduction to several sculpting techniques. This camp will run from Monday through Thursday for three hours each day and will be taught by BK Art Faculty. 

Session II: June 19th-22nd (Mon-Thurs)

This is a three hour course to help incoming seniors get a fast track on college applications, scholarships and college essays. All seniors are strongly encouraged to attend.
