Happy Solstice, CNMA friends! 

Summer has arrived at Colorado National Monument, and with it comes renewed energy and meaningful progress. I’m excited to share a few updates that reflect what your support is making possible.

This year, your generosity has helped fuel over $75,000 worth of aid, which supports four seasonal ranger positions at Colorado National Monument. These positions directly support the Monument’s scientific, educational and visitor service priorities, from raptor monitoring and GIS wilderness mapping, to providing inspirational interpretive programming, and supporting critical fee collection efforts that help sustain park operations and visitor experiences. 

We’re also celebrating exciting momentum for the future of our partnership with the monument.

Colorado National Monument Association was recently awarded two transformational grants from National Park Foundation that will strengthen our long-term ability to support Colorado National Monument. Earlier this month, CNMA and National Park Service participated in a strategic engagement initiative called Lift Team, designed to elevate our fundraising efforts, our partnership and build an even stronger foundation for future impact. 

In addition, CNMA secured a $75,000 capacity-building grant to expand our philanthropic strategy and increase our ability to provide meaningful financial support to the Monument for years to come.

These investments are about more than organizational growth; they position CNMA to accelerate support for the monument’s educational programs, scientific initiatives, and infrastructure needs well into the future.

We’re energized by what’s ahead. None of this progress happens without you: your belief in our mission, your advocacy and your financial support.

Desert Mala Necklace Workshop

Join us on June 27 for a unique four-hour workshop at Colorado National Monument, where you'll create a beautiful 108-bead Desert Mala Necklace inspired by the colors, textures, and grounding energy of the desert. 

Guided by Lynnea of DarcMoon, participants will learn the art of hand-knotting a traditional mala while selecting gemstones that reflect their personal intentions and goals.

Whether you're seeking a creative experience, a deeper connection to nature, or a meaningful keepsake, this workshop offers a memorable opportunity to slow down, reflect, and create something truly personal. 

Space is limited, and all materials are provided.

Monument on Tap: Lets Go Birding

Discover the incredible bird life of Colorado National Monument during this free, beginner-friendly birding adventure on July 15. Whether you're an experienced birder or simply curious about the birds that call the monument home, this guided outing offers a chance to explore the high-desert landscape while learning to identify resident and migratory species. Along the way, participants may spot everything from soaring Golden Eagles and Turkey Vultures to colorful songbirds hidden among the pinyon-juniper woodlands.

Bring your binoculars, curiosity, and sense of adventure for a morning of wildlife discovery in one of western Colorado's most spectacular landscapes.

Ranger Lily leads several recurring programs throughout the season, including physically accessible Let's Go Birding! walks every Saturday, sensory-friendly Biodiversity for Neurodiversity walks every Friday, and Beginner Backyard Birding sessions every Thursday at Devil's Kitchen Picnic Area.

These welcoming programs are designed to help visitors of all ages and experience levels connect with nature, learn about local wildlife, and discover the monument in new ways.
