The beginning of Summer is here. It's brimming with possibility. New and exciting adventures await you all!
Especially here at the Library. Don't like to travel far? Come in and check out a travel DVD, a book set in a faraway land, in a fantasy world, or in outer space. Adventure doesn't have to take you far, come check out local hiking maps or CPL's birdwatching kits. Ensure this summer lives up to its potential make your own adventures! Just be certain to include CPL in on them!

"Memories of Times Past - The Creative Talent of John Gould"

Art Opening Reception- Wednesday July 10

The Community Room at the library is the setting for this nostalgic look at Memories of Times Past. The exhibit will take you from the Horsecars in Erie, PA to the Sleepy Restorations in Tarrytown, NY.
Scenes from Cornwall include St. Thomas of Cantebury Church, Cromwell Manor and Mallards on Hudson near Storm King Mountain.
Each original in the exhibition has a distinct and precise detail that the artist was famous for. Composition and contrast with careful use of shade and shadow will thrill the viewers of John Gould’s artwork.

are looking for a new Treasurer!

The Friends of the Cornwall Library, Inc. need your help!! We need a new Treasurer of the Friends of the Cornwall Library. If you would like to volunteer approximately 4-8 hours each month, contact The Friends of the Cornwall Library, Inc. in writing, giving your name, contact information, and a brief description of your interest and qualifications no later than Monday, July 8, 2024. The Treasurer is a member of the Board of Directors of the Friends of Cornwall Library. They prepare monthly financial reports, pay all vendors in a timely fashion, reconcile all bank statements, complete non-profit corporation info updates, and work with the Library Bookkeeper. Training will be provided.

Cornwall Friendly Visitor Program Volunteer Training

The in person training will prepare you to provide support to older adults in our community. Volunteers provide local transportation to essential appointments, grocery shopping, friendly visits, and phone check-in calls. Volunteering is rewarding and flexible. Background checks and Insurance while volunteering are provided. The Town of Cornwall partners with JFS of Orange County and Office of Aging to support older neighbors in the Town of Cornwall and throughout Orange County.

"Getting it Right:" The Railroad Art of John Gould, Illustrator

Cornwall artist John Fleming Gould (1906-1996) was known for his dedication to technical detail, which will be shown through a selection of his railroad-themed works.
Presented by local historian Matt Kierstead with contributions and insights from John Gould’s son, artist Paul Gould, “Getting it Right” will explore Gould’s rich art career with a focus on his railroad work.
