What to Make Today

🍑 Seasonal Spotlight: Peaches

Peak Season: Late July through September

Why We Love Them:

There's nothing quite like biting into a perfectly ripe local peach, with the juice running down your chin and elbow. Picked at the right moment, local peaches are sweet, fragrant, and bursting with flavor. Look for fruit that smells like a peach and gives just a little when you gently squeeze it.

From the Kitchen:

Peaches don't need much fuss. Slice them over yogurt, grill them for a few minutes, or toss them into a salad with tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil. Of course, they're just as happy baked into a pie or cobbler.

Did You Know?

A peach will keep ripening on your kitchen counter, but once it's perfectly ripe, pop it in the fridge and enjoy it within a few days.

Beyond the Pie...

Fresh peaches make wonderful jams, smoothies, salsas, and even cocktails. If you've only been eating them out-of-hand, this is the summer to branch out.

Restaurant Survey

Calling All Southeastern Massachusetts Restaurants!

Our readers want to know where their food comes from. They want to support restaurants that buy from local farms, fisheries, and food producers—but there isn't an easy way to find them. We're hoping to change that.

Edible Southeastern Massachusetts will soon publish an Eat Local Guide highlighting restaurants that make an effort to source fresh, local ingredients and prepare food with care. Restaurants that complete our survey may be featured in the guide, both in print and online.

It's not a contest, and it's not a review. It's simply a way to celebrate the restaurants that are helping to strengthen our local food community and make it easier for diners who care to find you.

Whether you feature one local ingredient, cook signature items from scratch, or build your menu around local farms, we'd love to hear your story.

The quick survey takes just a few minutes to complete.

Readers: If you have a favorite restaurant that supports local farms and food producers, please pass this along. We'd love to hear their story.
