Are You Ready for Summer Camp?
As we move quickly toward spring, it's also a busy time for finding summer programs or camps for children. For children with special needs, this task is a bit more complicated. Take a look at this resource with information on selecting a camp, as well as a list of camps for children with special needs.
Day Camps in Nassau, Suffolk & Queens
If you're looking for summer day camps, check out these camp lists:
Summer Camp at Hofstra
Be sure to check out Hofstra University's REACH program. This is an opportunity for campers with autism spectrum disorder and other special needs to experience camp. Space is limited, so reach out soon if you'd like to learn more.
Spring Break Camps and Activities
With Spring Break right around the corner, we're rounding up some resources for things to do with the kids.

In case you missed our recent blog post, take a look. It covers what you need to know about autism spectrum disorder.
Attend a free workshop!
Be sure to regularly check our Event Calendar! MKSA offers free provider workshops and free parent workshops. These give our providers opportunities to stay current on issues while maintaining their professional development hours. And we are looking to connect in more ways with families--whether in our program or not--and provide information and strategies on typical childhood topics. We hope to see you soon!
Reading Recommendations
We continue our list of recommended books.  This month's topic is Spring:
- Let It Rain by Maryann Cocca-Leffler
- In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb by Marion Dane Bauer and Emily Arnold McCully
- Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert
Did You Know?
March is National Nutrition Month, National Craft Month and National Frozen Food Month. So...eat some veggies before you start a new art project, and celebrate its completion with some ice cream (ice cream counts as frozen food, doesn't it?)!
