The construction of a yurt at ICG created quite a buzz last Summer and Fall! Many folks have been asking about Yurtle and how it is currently being used.

ICG’s Playful Nature Explorers preschool and After School programs are rugged communities of kids and educators that LOVE being outside in the Garden and practicing the skills required to endure cold weather. However, as we all know, winter can pose some serious challenges to enjoying the outdoors.

On days with extreme wind chills or 40’F downpours, Yurtle has truly saved the day and kept our young explorers safe and healthy, while continuing to grow their peer relationships and nature discovery in a warm cozy shelter.

Stay tuned for more ways to see and support the upkeep of the yurt in the future as we explore ways to share the space. In the meantime, consider becoming a new monthly supporter of the Garden and be part of The Hive.

We have three summer camp offerings this year, each centering playwork, child-led education, and nature connection:

Acorns half-day camp (ages 3-5)

Willows full-day camp (ages 5-10)

Maples full-day camp (ages 10-12)

During this time, each family is invited to choose ONE camp week per camper and list up to two additional weeks as backups. We will then assign one camp week per camper from their list of choices, giving as many families as possible their first choice. In March we will open registration for additional camp weeks.
