2022 ACAC SUMMER ART CAMPS:
JUNE & JULY 2022 | AGES 6-15

Your child can experience the transformative effect of contemporary art! ACAC is offering an opportunity for creative students to create and play using everyday objects and experiment with different art mediums. 

Students are encouraged to think creatively, create narratives and challenge themselves to learn new artistic and expression techniques. Classes will include ceramics, drawing, painting, art appreciation, mixed media projects, and movement. ACAC Art Camp is designed for children ages 6 and older; children ages 5 and under will not be admitted.
 
$170 FOR MEMBERS | $225 PER WEEK FOR NON-MEMBERS

SESSIONS WILL TAKE PLACE DAILY 8 AM – 3 PM MONDAY – FRIDAY
Exceptions apply: Theatre camp starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. Friday's classes will end with an art reception featuring the work of the campers.

June 13th - 17th: Caricatures and Clay
*Ages 11-15*
Get your hands dirty! Draw your own characters, learn the basics of sketching and illustration, then make it 3D. Campers will experiment with wheel throwing, and create their own ceramic sculptures using clay.

June 20th - 24th: Trash Transformed! Art Sampler
*Ages 6-10*
Transform everyday objects into art! Create art that explores your identity, use mixed media and recycled materials to make one a kind artwork. Students will explore different art mediums including watercolor, drawing, mixed media, ceramics, and movement.

June 27th – July 1st: Think Like an Artist: Art Sampler

Students will explore different art mediums including watercolor, drawing, mixed media, ceramics, and movement.

July 11th - 15th: Fantastic Animals: Art Sampler
*Ages 6-10*
Let your creativity roar! Students will create exciting art inspired by the animals around us. From cave art to contemporary art, campers will use paint, clay, collage, color, and mixed media to create expressive interpretations of animals in the history of art.

*Ages 11-15*
Act it up! This camp will focus on exploring emotions through theatrical exercises and creating fun costumes. Students will create their own authentic character, and imagine their wardrobe, make-up and staging. Bring your personality out and learn to express yourself through theatre and acting!

*Ages 11-15*
Experiment with textiles! Campers will bring their ideas to life by making their own patchwork scene using needle and thread, fabric scraps, beads, and found objects. Tell stories through the South American folk textile tradition of Arpilleras.
Students at Classical Ballet have the opportunity to train from Pre-School through Advanced levels. They will gain performance experience, participate in outreach service within our community, and become eligible to dance with our Youth Performance Company. Ballet Summer Intensives and Camps are available for registration now!

This division focuses on preparatory ballet movement using fun and innovative, age-appropriate methods. Classes take place Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Class schedules are subject to change at any time.

Coastal Makers camps are perfect for any budding artist! Our fun, playful projects will leave your kiddo begging to come back to play games and make great art. We will explore many art mediums, creating amazing works of art that they will proudly display! We sculpt, we paint, we draw, we CREATE! There are so many textural, sensory, and learning opportunities at Coastal Makers Art Camp, your kiddo will be begging for more!

Our camps are structured so that students have an opportunity to explore a variety of methods and mediums while also enjoying the fun and relaxation of summer!

This immersive class will take students outside of the studio to source materials for unique sculptures and works of art. Students will learn about the native plant life of Alabama and how it has been utilized in art throughout the years. Join Tamlin Allbritten in this incredible, sensory-filled camp.

*Ages 7+*
Let's get MUDDY! Get ready to build motor skills and muscle memory in one of ESAC's most POPULAR classes.... Summertime Pottery. Students will learn about handbuilding, glazing, texturizing, and may just take a spin on the wheel! *Art Bash pottery projects will be ready for pick up 2 weeks after the camp ends. Parents will be notified once pieces have been fired.

LITTLE Hands can create the most FANTASTIC of heart that yield the BIGGEST of reactions! These little artists will tap into creativity like never before. You won't see a crayon in this art class. Michelle Kearney will teach fun, exciting lessons that promote intuition, motor skills, and more.

*Ages 11+*
Capture the world around you through sketchbooking and watercolors. John Halliday will guide students as they learn about daily practice, observation, and technique. Eager to continue learning with John Halliday? Look for his weekly classes in the upcoming Summer and Fall schedules

*Ages 8-10*
Explore every corner of the artist's toolbox in one week. Taking from popular artists and the masters, Breanna Earl will engage the students in a variety of art lessons. Make some space on the walls because this art bash camp is sure to produce frame worthy, vibrant work while instilling creativity and curiosity.
Our Full Scale summer music camps are the perfect time to learn a new instrument, play in a band, practice your instrument, and have a great time performing together. All instruments and ability levels are welcome!

We provide snacks, but students should bring lunch if they are staying for the Full session. Beginners and more experienced players are welcome! Students preform a concert each Friday at 2 p.m.

Morning sessions are designed for ages 5-10 and last from 8:30-11:30 each day. $140  
Full session is designed for ages 10-18 and lasts from 8:30-3:00 each day. $220

Our Summer Camps are designed so that each child will have a unique opportunity to have fun while uncovering science, discovering new adventures, and exploring new challenges. Campers will have the opportunity to experience day-long adventures with children their own age while in a safe, facilitated environment with experienced educators. They will participate in creative projects that reinforce STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) concepts and also have full access to exhibits as well as our new PCI Digital Dome Theater.
 
4-5 YEARS

June 6th -10th : Dinotastic Expedition
Get ready to go on a prehistoric journey to discover the exciting world of dinosaurs. We will learn about all the ways paleontologists study fossils to unlock the secrets of the past.

June 13th – 17th: Little Symphony
Get ready to go on a tour of the orchestra in this musical camp. We will learn how to play instruments, encounter new rhythms, and create beautiful sounds for all to enjoy.

June 20th – 24th: Space Cadets
Come tour the starry skies in this out of this world astronomy camp! Campers will experience hands on activities that will let them explore the solar system and beyond.

June 27th – July 1st: Natural Factuals
It’s a great big world out there and we are going to explore it! Join us as we explore the natural world and all of its wonders.

July 11th – 15th: Artistic Science 101
Break out your inner artist and create masterpieces in this engaging art camp. We will learn how exciting art can be when you add science to the canvas.

Come and learn about the science of us this week! We’ll get to explore the different systems that make up the human body with hands-on activities involving the brain, heart, and lungs!

Come and see the inner workings of the museum world – behind the scenes! Campers will explore the world of museums and learn how exhibits are created and curated in this hands-on camp!

August 1st – 5th: Carnival Science
Let the Science Roll in this Mardi Gras themed science camp. We will experience lots of fun projects inspired by some of Mobile’s fun carnival traditions.

6-7 YEARS

Have you ever thought about having a dinosaur as a pet? This week campers will learn about various types of dinosaurs, including their different habitats, diets, and even what it would take to train your own dinosaur!

Learn all about the human body and how it works this week with a camp full of anatomy and physiology! We’ll get to explore the different systems that make up the human body with hands-on activities involving the brain, heart, and lungs!

Explore the principles of flight on Earth and in space. Learn how the laws of physics are used differently for terrestrial and space flight.

June 20th – 24th: AM/NS Engineering Camp
How did ancient peoples build the Seven Wonders of the World? Explore ancient engineering principles that we still use to create the wonders of today.

June 27th – July 1st: Can You Sense It
Experience the world around you one sense at a time! Students will learn how our bodies process the world around them by experimenting with their own senses.

Come and see the inner workings of the museum world – behind the scenes! Campers will explore the world of museums and learn how exhibits are created and curated in this hands-on camp!

August 1st – 5th: City Mouse Survival Camp
How do animals survive and thrive in the concrete jungle? Investigate the surprising biodiversity of the city and the survival hacks that animals use to coexist as our neighbors.

The Marcus Johnson Summer Jazz Camp requires each student to have their own instrument and possess the ability to play music scales. June 13th - 16th: NatureBLAST!

Transform your child’s summer with an exciting week of adventure! Planned for rising 3rd and 4th graders, this program is designed to instill a love of outdoor adventure and appreciation of nature. Set amidst the 106-acre Mobile Botanical Gardens, a rich, ecologically diverse site in the Langan City Park, daily activities are perfect for discovery and exploration. All activities and classes are outdoors, under a covered pavilion or in an open-air classroom.

Registrations due by May 23, 2022 and participation is limited to 15 students. Sign your child or grandchild up TODAY!

Junior MedCamp returns in June 2022, with five full days of health-care-themed STEM activities for children ages 9 to 11.
 
This year's camp session is presented in partnership with Eichold-Mertz Magnet School of Math Science and Technology, the Edith Mitchell Health Initiative, and S.C.H.O.O.L.S. 
From 8 a.m. through 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, up to 30 campers will participate in arts and crafts, games, and experiments as we investigate topics such as how germs cause illness, human anatomy and body functions, and how common instruments such as the stethoscope and the blood pressure monitor are used. They will build models, test and observe chemical reactions, use microscopes to examine cell structures, and dissect flowers to learn about plant reproduction and garden ecology. Camp activities will be led by experienced science educators.

Weekly Themes and Projects: Campers will become pop stars by writing and performing their own Music, learning about storytelling and character-building while becoming an author of their own Book, and campers will travel the world getting their passports stamped after visiting and learning about Artists from all over! Children will love to explore creativity and the environment this summer! Learn more about Mobile arts and culture while enjoying activities to help enrich the mind and body. Weekly Field Trips will include Swimming, Theater Plays, Paint Party Trip, Symphony and Dance Shows! 

Please note that space is limited. It is recommended that you register for the entire summer to reserve your child's spot. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided during Camp. Drop off is at 7:30 a.m. and Pick up is 4:30 p.m. There is no Pre Camp, and Post Camp hours are: 4:30 p.m.- 6:30 p.m.

The PACT’s summer program is a high-energy camp that allows campers in Pre-K through 12th Grade to experience musical theatre and innovative workshops in exciting and innovative ways.


Our musical theatre performance camps take The PACT Show experience and condense it into two action-packed weeks. Monday through Friday, campers meet at The PACT studio from 8am-3pm, where they audition, receive a role, and rehearse the show. Those shows are performed on the last Friday of camp! There is something for everyone in The PACT’s summer program.

Boys and girls alike will love this camp! The theme of the camp is “ MOBILE BAY, living on the water.” We will explore, discover and create using a variety of mediums and materials! Think boats, crabs, fish, cast nets, beaches, sunshine, sunsets, water activities and lots more. There is so much freedom to express yourself this week because we are a Process Art Studio where we focus on the process of creating not the final product. Kids love a no judgement zone and there are no expectations on what their final art works must look like when they are done. This creative camp is a great way to jump start the summer!

June 13th - 16th: Cardboard Creations Camp!
Boys and girls alike will love this camp! We will reuse, explore, invent and create using recycled cardboard, paint, tape, paper, glue and much more. Build a cardboard city, a creature, truck, doll house, mask, wall sculpture- there is something for everyone this week. So think BIG! It’s an invitation to created using those imaginations.

June 20th - 23rd: Wearable Art Camp!
We will focus on arts and crafts kids can wear or carry! Think… beach tote, tie dye t-shirts, headbands, hats, scarves, bracelets. The options are endless. This camp is for both boys and girls. Join us for wearable fun!

June 27th - 30th: Red White And Blue Camp!
Let’s be PATRIOTIC! Boys and girls alike will love this mix media camp. Getting in the spirit of the Fourth of July…kids will paint, draw, collage, and sculpt all things AMERICAN! We have some fun red, white and blue mix media projects for you.
Sunny Side Theater’s Drama Camps have been a Mobile fixture since 2002. What started as a two-week camp has turned into a full-time summer program meeting the needs of kids and families desiring an immersive experience.




June 6th – June 17th: Drama Camp Session 1
Shows: June 16th at 7 p.m. & June 17 at 10 a.m.
Campers play theater games, participate in show rehearsals, learn about styling and characterization, and paint sets all while putting together a full-length play.

June 13th - 24th: Rising Stars
Shows: June 23rd at 7 p.m. & June 24 at 1:30 p.m.
A special camp designed specifically for our older students, this camp will focus on really developing a character and giving the audience something to laugh at! Directed by Actor’s Edge Studio owner Eric Browne, this camp leaves the audience in stitches, as the show is always something super funny!

June 20th – July 1st: Drama Camp Session 2

June 27th – July 7th: Glee Camp
Show: July 7th at 7 p.m.
If you love singing, love Broadway, love Disney, or love pop songs, this is the camp for you! From start to finish, this camp allows each student the chance to experience the thrill of singing solos and learning choreography at their own pace. The last night of camp features a full concert complete with plenty of hand-clapping and toe-tapping!

July 5th – 15th: Drama Camp Session 3

July 18th – 22nd: Musical Theatre Intensive
* June 17th auditions at 5 p.m. at Azalea City Center for the Arts*
How can you put on a full musical in just one week? You combine the amazing directors of Sunny Side with Nationally Award-Winning Director & choreographer from around the country! Kids will produce an entire musical complete with sets & costumes!



For our youngest actors and actresses, we are thrilled to offer another fresh summer of camps! Children will learn all the basics of acting while producing a skit to present at the end of each week! Counselors have experience working with children in the arts and help them choose costumes, paint scenery, and put on a show for parents. ***Shows each Friday at 1:00 p.m.***
