Summer Comet Connection

Happy Summer! We hope you are having a relaxing time with your family! Many of our students shared they were going on several vacations this summer, which sounds great! Below are a few reminders and updates and some BIG NEWS for our Summer Comet Connection!

Meet our New Principal,

Cynthia Spiva!

We are very excited to announce that after a year of rebuilding and searching for the right candidate to be our next principal, Cynthia Spiva has accepted the call to be our Principal! Cynthia has had 34 years in ministry and has served 15 of these years in administration. She received her BA from Concordia University in Portland majoring in Elementary Education and Minoring in Early Childhood Education. She then went on to receive her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. We have gotten to know Cynthia over the last few months and we are very excited to have her join our Emmaus family!

After one day of having my 2 kids at home with me, I realized I wanted them in summer school--correction, I NEEDED them in summer school! They were watching too much t.v., asking me for snacks every other minute, and they made my house such a mess! I got nothing done, lol! Soooo... if you haven't already signed up your student for our Summer Academy and Camp it's not too late! We've had a great start to our summer program with morning academics and awesome afternoon activities including Art, Coding, Basketball, Water Fun, Dodgeball, Team Building, and an Ice Cream Social. You can enroll by the week so that you can schedule it around any summer vacation. We are also happy to have 2 new enrichment classes--Art and Coding, please see below for more information!

4th Quarter Report Cards & MAP Test Results

You should have received the 4th quarter report card and Final MAP Growth test results in the mail this past week. If you don't receive them soon, please contact Mrs. Reid at [email protected]

Below is a compilation of how our classes did on the Spring Tests in comparison to the national norm.  These results compare our classroom average RIT score and the National Norm RIT scores. MAP Growth uses the RIT (Rasch Unit) scale to help you measure and compare academic growth. Specifically, the scale measures levels in academic difficulty. The RIT scale extends equally across all grades, making it possible to compare a student's score at various points throughout his or her education.

On average, Emmaus classes scored 7.5 points above the National Norm in Mathematics! Way to go Emmaus!

On average, Emmaus classes scored 6.6 points above the National Norm in Literature! Keep up the great reading, Comets!

On average, Emmaus classes scored 7.9 points above the National Norm in Language Arts. Great job in grammar and writing! Please note Kindergarten and 1st Grade students do not take the Language Arts test--MAP Growth Language Arts test is only for 2nd through 8th graders.

Don't Forget to Refer your Family and Friends to join our Emmaus Family! Get $500 off Next Year's Tuition!

We have had many inquiries from public school families because of the quality of education and the class sizes their child is experiencing in the public sector. Refer a friend to Emmaus and you could get $500 off of tuition next year. The student must be enrolled in K-8 for the 2022-2023 school year, and you will receive $500 off of your May 2023 tuition! Spread the word!

  • We pray for peace and comfort for the families and community of the students and teachers who lost their lives at school in Uvalde, TX. We pray for our nation and for healing in the name of Jesus, our Savior!
  • We pray for peace in Eastern Europe, that the Lord may bring an end to the war and restore peace and freedom to the people of Ukraine.
  • We pray a prayer of thankfulness for the years of service Ms. Fellwock has given to the ministry and especially here at Emmaus.
