Design Team Member Kelly Daye created this whimsical mini album! She says, "For today's Mountains Are Calling Cut File I made a mini album about our trip aboard The Rocky Mountaineer. We traveled by train from Banff to Vancouver over three days. It was pure luxury and you can hear more of the details in my flip-thru on YouTube today! With the exception of a couple of spreads, I’ve used Paige’s gorgeous Splendid collection throughout and a few of her cut files too. The cover was made with today's cut file and backed with papers from a number of Paige's collections. It’s one of the things I love most about Paige’s collections: they all have elements that coordinate seamlessly. What’s unique about my cover today is the cut file was cut from a darker paper! I most often cut from white cardstock but thought I'd try something new! I like the slate color of Paper 1 along with the pretty pink gingham of Paper 12. I also stitched on the sequins with Black DMC Floss. I think the black helps all the colors pop. What do you think?
The first spread includes a pocket to hold some fun and pretty things. I used flowers from the Cross Stitch Kit to record the date, check it all out in my video.
The second spread features colorful, hand stitched letters I fussy cut from Paper 14. I love how they pop off the B&W background of Paper 13. I made all the rosettes from Splendid papers and added round photos on top.
Paper 18, with its school book rule and little red typewriter, was great for journaling. A pretty slice of cake was perfect because this was a birthday trip from Jim. How adorable is the teeny tiny fork? On the left, I used Paige’s Envelope Cut File to hold two mini tag albums. The tags are from the Ephemera Die Cuts and the photos were cut in the same shape. The background is pretty Paper 1. A floral Chipboard Sticker and sentiment Epoxy Sticker tie it all together nicely.
Have you ever used a photo as an entire page? It’s new for me and I love the impact it made. I went into the vault for the background paper on the adjacent page. It’s from Paige’s Oh My Heart Digital Collection and the ephemera is from Splendid. I think they’re really fun together. Can you spot the Washi Tape in the mix?
My last spread features Bighorn sheep we spotted at this gorgeous lake. The photos sit upon the acetate specialty paper from Oh My Heart. The aqua arrows are from the Epoxy Stickers. Last but not least, another Paige Evans cut file: Wild and Free. I made flowers with the Acrylic Stamps (awesome, you’ll never run out!) and added Cardstock Sticker butterflies. Here’s something pretty to try: I saved the inner W, D, and R when I made the cut file from white cardstock, then added clear stickers on top from the 8-Page Sticker Book instead of using patterned paper. I love them so much! The album is held together with a binder ring on which I added a fun tassel and Flower Charm.
