Summer E-Newsletter

June 18, 2026

Greetings Holy Family Parents!

We hope your summer is off to a great start and you are making wonderful memories with your children! This Summer E-Newsletter provides the information you need to prepare for the 2026-2027 school year. We are looking forward to seeing you in the Fall!

Summer Office Hours

Holy Family offices will be closed June 29th-July 15th. There will be no staff on duty and messages will not be retrieved during this time. Enjoy your summer!

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

"For grace is given not because we have done good works, but in order that we may be able to do them." St. Augustine of Hippo

Dear Families,

We hope you are enjoying a restful and joyful summer! During this time, our staff has been preparing the campus to welcome you back for the 2026–2027 school year.

We are excited to see what God has in store for us in the coming year. Today, we would like to introduce our school theme for the 2026/2027 school year: Rooted in Grace, Growing in Virtue. Throughout the year, we will focus on opening our hearts to God’s grace as we explore a different virtue each month. Together, we will ask God to help us grow in each virtue, practice living it out in our daily lives, and reflect on the example of a saint who modeled it. We look forward to sharing more about our theme soon.

This summer newsletter is filled with important information for your family, including details about the Summer Reading Program, school supplies, back-to-school events, and our uniform vendor, among other key topics. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Until we gather on campus, you and your family remain in our prayers. We hope that the summer is filled with God’s grace.

God Bless,

Erin Vu

The Angel Choir and Archangel Choir are extracurricular activities that meet on Wednesdays after school in Ms. Soto's classroom, Praise 201.

Who: Angel choir - 3rd and 4th graders

       Archangel choir - 5th-8th graders

When: Rehearsals begin the second week of school and meet from 3:30 PM-4:45PM on Wednesdays.

The two choirs will alternate each week to sing for Mass.

Cantoring is a special leadership role for experienced choir members. It requires the ability to lead the congregation in praying the sung responsorial psalm. Interested students must be enrolled in the current year’s school choir and have participated in choir for at least one school year. Cantors must be baptized Catholic. Cantor practice will be added to the end of choir practice and cantors may be required to stay 15 minutes if they are scheduled to cantor that week.

Altar servers provide a vital ministry that allows our school Masses to flow smoothly and reverently. We are currently accepting applications from eligible students in grades 5 - 8 who wish to be considered for this privilege.

Because of the responsibility required for this role, please consider the following guidelines:

  • Eligibility: Applicants must be practicing Catholics and have completed standard altar server training at their home parish.

  • Expectations: To be considered and to remain on the rotation, students must maintain good behavioral standing throughout the school year.

  • Mandatory Training: If accepted, all servers, including returning school altar servers, must attend a mandatory school-specific training session in the church before being placed on the schedule. Training times will be finalized once the 2026-2027 school year schedule is set.

  • Deadline: The priority deadline to submit an application is August 1st.

Submission of an application does not guarantee placement on the altar server roster. Rosters and schedules will be determined based on scheduling availability, school needs, and ongoing adherence to behavioral standards.

School Supplies

Our school will be managing school supplies the same way we did last year. Instead of us ordering the supplies in bulk and having them in the classroom on the first day of school, parents now have the option of purchasing the supplies through a vendor we have contracted with or on your own. The lists are attached for what is needed for each grade level.

There are additional items that need to be purchased per grade level as well. Please read the attached document for more information.

Summer Reading Program

We are excited to invite our entire community to spend time reading each day this summer. We look forward to seeing the creative book projects our students will share in just a few months! Whether you're on a road trip, by the pool, or relaxing with iced tea—make time to read and enjoy the journey!

Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM)

All persons who engage in ministry in the Diocese of Austin (clergy, religious, employees, and lay volunteers) must complete the EIM registration and training through VIRTUS® Online in order to serve in ministry. New applicants, and existing applicants who have never attended an EIM Workshop, must attend an in-person EIM Workshop to fulfill their initial EIM compliance requirement. Please visit https://www.austindiocese.org/eim-instructions for more information. If you are a new applicant who has submitted an EIM Application and need to attend an EIM Workshop, contact your parish/school EIM site administrator regarding the status of an in-person EIM Workshop at your location.

All volunteers must wear EIM name badges to indicate they are volunteers with Holy Family Catholic School. Once you have completed the EIM workshop, please contact Dr. Danna Kelemen for a new or replacement badge, or if you have any questions regarding EIM compliance.

Thank you for your assistance in keeping our community and children safe.

Tx Dept of Health Services

Immunization Requirements for the 2026-2027 School Year

The Texas Department of Health Services sets immunization requirements for all students in both public and private schools. While you may have already fulfilled all the requirements of your child's immunization record, we ask that you take a look at the following link to make sure we have the most recent copy before school starts on August 12th. If you are not sure, feel free to send us another copy. According to the family handbook, "Please note that although conscientious exemptions and waivers may be accepted in some schools, they are not acceptable for use within schools of the Diocese of Austin."

Tuition Plans and Incidental Billing

Holy Family Catholic School uses an online Incidental Billing Program provided by FACTS Management Company. By enrolling in the FACTS Management payment plan for tuition, each family is set to receive Incidental Invoices for a variety of mandatory fees throughout the school year. Some of the fees might include PA membership, elective course fees, library fees, field trips, etc. The school also utilizes FACTS giving forms for select optional fees such as t-shirt sales, athletics fees, club incidental fees, and Angel Boutique items.
