including PTA/PTSA meeting/election guidance
Dear PTA Advocates of Duval County:

July is almost over and here we go into the unknown

I’m more than a little nervous and maybe you are too. PTA has never looked so different and with various paths for students and teachers, we must come together like never before and help each other traverse a road that provides little insight as to what’s in front of us. Your DCCPTA will be providing some idea sharing opportunities to help us all do better, be better and most importantly support each other! This will be a year filled with the unknown but we are PTA and we always find a way to keep building a bridge.

How can your county council best serve you?
Let us know by answering these short surveys (click below):

Per DCPS (as of July 28, 2020), until the COVID-19 pandemic is under control, volunteers will not be allowed to serve in the schools . If there is something that can be done to assist the school online or external to the school, it would be allowable and appreciated. The idea is to limit the number of people in the buildings that employees and students come into contact with.

With this in mind, PTAs and PTSAs have to get creative as to how to help provide programs, support and engage membership during this time.

Tell us how your PTA will do virtual this year so we can idea share.
Volunteer Status FYI
For many parents the impending start of school is a reminder to renew their volunteer status. The DCPS site is not accepting new applications at this time due to Covid-19 but will resume once schools reopen so make a note for yourself!

The required Presidents and Treasurers’ trainings will be virtual this year! We are posting these trainings (and in the future some additional trainings) on our YouTube channel in an effort to make training flexible and accessible! Following the training you will be asked to submit a google form which will include a way to submit questions.

All officers will receive information on accessing trainings once they are posted or visit our YouTube channel:
Make sure you are informed on the latest
with our Duval schools reopening:

The ½ cent tax referendum will be on the November 3, 2020 ballot and voters will decide whether to provide funding to repair and renovate our schools, improve campus safety, reduce portables, improve technology, and build new schools in areas of growth.
Please share this information with your members and help advocate for this needed funding to help improve our schools!

As this unprecedented summer winds down and plans for the upcoming school year are being made, please remember that the emotional health of us all is vulnerable due to circumstances beyond our control. Be sure to check in members of your school community, especially those that are strong, often times these are the individuals that need a boost more than anyone. PTA provides some excellent resources both informative and do-able.

DCCPTA is here for you too. Please reach out to us at any time if you know of someone that needs support. While we are not professionals, we have numerous professional relationships that can be of help as well as fantastic parents who are here to assist.
