The CDP is pleased to announce it has received an award of $375,000 in tax credits through the Massachusetts Community Investment Tax Credit (CITC) program.
CITC helps the CDP create opportunities for donors to receive a 50% State tax credit for their donation ($1,000 minimum) while investing in the CDP’s high-impact economic and community development programs to improve the well-being of low to moderate-income individuals and families living on the Lower and Outer Cape.

On the Road to Housing Solutions: CDP Hosts First-Ever ADU Tour
“A lot of problems we have are people problems. Yet here we are—a bunch of people who are now excited, inspired, and hopeful for the future after learning there are options to make homes more sustainable and attainable.”
- Tim O’Reilly, Project Manager, Backyard ADUs

With upbeat tunes and a bold pink bus as their ride, 23 planners, housing advocates, public health professionals, and regional leaders from six Lower and Outer Cape towns embarked on a first-of-its-kind “Wayfinder Tour" in mid-June: a rolling showcase of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) hosted by the Lower Cape Housing & ADU Resource Center (LCHARC) and led by CDP Housing Resources Program Manager Talitha Abramsen.
The event marked two “firsts” for the Cape: 1) Its inaugural ADU tour and 2) The first time the legendary “Funk Bus”—named “Pink Disco” and operated by Cape Destinations, a company owned by a CDP board member, Raphael Richter—was used to spotlight housing innovation.
Designed to promote collaboration and break down silos across professions and municipalities, the mobile gathering offered participants an up-close look at five different ADU projects spanning four Cape Cod towns. The tour featured a range of units—from modular builds and a DIY renovation to a custom-designed space—each reflecting the unique challenges and opportunities of small-scale housing development on Cape Cod.

Rolling Success: Cape Dog Groomer Hits the Road with CDP Help
“I knew if there was a way to do this on my own, here in the community I love, I had to try.”
– Alyssa Raneo, Owner Crafting Canines, Harwich
| | |
When Harwich resident Alyssa Raneo first had the idea to launch her own mobile dog grooming business, she knew she had the passion and skills—but not the business knowledge. “I didn’t know what a cash flow worksheet was,” she says, laughing. “It all looked like gibberish to me.”
That was two years ago. Today, Alyssa is the proud owner of Crafting Canines, a thriving mobile grooming business serving towns across Cape Cod—from Harwich and Chatham to Provincetown and Marstons Mills. Her custom-built trailer, designed by a company of groomers in Tennessee, is a fully equipped grooming studio on wheels. But getting there took grit, patience, and a lot of support—especially from Pam Anderson, CDP’s Director of Business & Credit Programs.

Remembering Rick Presbrey
Rick Presbrey, founder and first CEO of Housing Assistance Corporation (HAC), passed away on June 6, 2025.
For 43 years, Rick led HAC with compassion and a steadfast commitment to helping families achieve housing stability. He founded the organization in 1974 with the vision of “a community where everyone has a safe, stable and decent place to live,” serving Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket. HAC CEO Alisa Magnotta shared, “Rick’s legacy lives on in our agency, in the many lives he touched, and in the housing policies we are seeing adopted locally.”
Rick is remembered by many as a vital part of their journey to a first home. His visionary contributions were instrumental in the establishment of the CDP 30 years ago, as he served on the steering committee alongside other community leaders who founded the organization. He lived by the golden rule: treat others the way you want to be treated.
We are deeply grateful for his lasting contributions and extend heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. Click here to learn more about Rick Presbrey.
