Pranic Applications along with Pranic Healing of San Diego is pleased to announce the Pranic Healer's Certification Program. The primary goal of this program is to provide in-depth training not only in the Pranic Healing principles, but also the practical healing skills leading to an internationally accepted certification established by Master Choa Kok Sui through the Institute of Inner Studies in Manila.
The purpose of this training is to cultivate confidence, proficiency and a high standard of Pranic Healing skills. There are several levels of Pranic Healer's Certification, each level requiring higher proficiency and skill training.
The Associate Certified Pranic Healer, the first level is comprised of three steps:

The Drive to be Perfect
Often in my practice as a psychotherapist, I encounter clients who are driven by the need to be perfect - perfect in their work, perfect in their parenting, perfect in their social relationships, ad infinitum. There is no room in their self-view that "just being human" is good enough. The "have to's", "shoulds", "oughts", "musts", and "nevers" that they learned as children from parents and school have internalized. They don't realize that there are very real costs to perfectionism that slowly chip away at their physical, emotional, and mental health as well as their relationships.
Recent brain (fMRI) research on the anterior cingulate cortex (that's the error processing of the brain) looked at the issue of perfectionism. It found there was a significant difference between those people who strove to be perfect based on personal, internal standards, and those who strove to be perfect based on external standards, i.e. what
other people thought of them, focusing particularly on the negative evaluations of others.
For the "personal-standard" perfectionists, the anterior cingulate was very active. Also, their brain activity showed a slowing-down process when they made errors, which could allow them to learn from their mistakes and eventually correct course. However, for the "externally driven" perfectionists, the anterior cingulate showed little activity when they made mistakes, and very little brain slowing-down process to learn and correct their mistakes.
The conclusion was that the brains of people with more socially driven, external judgment-based perfectionism appear to handle error management less effectively than people with more self-motivated, personal-standard based perfectionism.
So, what does this have to do with Pranic Healing and the teachings of our Beloved Master Choa Kok Sui? A great deal. It has everything to do with what or with whom we identify and strive to be.
Master Choa was committed to improving and adding to the evolution of human beings. He developed Pranic Healing to alleviate and heal the suffering of others physically, emotionally and mentally. He developed a system of meditations that could advance us through this physical plane to ever higher spiritual development, wisdom and achievement. He introduced the practice of achieving Divine Virtues such as Love and Compassion, Gratitude, Discernment, Grace, Truth, Constancy of Aim and Effort to name a few, in order to refine our personalities and behavior.
He taught us a strategy which he called Inner Reflection and Firm Resolution. Here we were to review for 10-15 minutes at the end of each day where or how we had erred verbally, emotionally, and mentally during the day. We then were to acknowledge the err, resolve not to repeat it, and move on. He never allowed us to obsess, ruminate or cast judgments on ourselves or others as that strengthened and anchored what we were trying to overcome within ourselves.
Master Choa also taught us to identify and become one with our Higher Soul. We were not to identify our egos with our physical, emotional, mental, social, career, or financial selves, NOR those of others. There was a Higher Perfection that was innate in all of us for which we strove.
With that in mind, "the drive to be perfect" takes on a new meaning, an inner meaning that comes from our Higher Soul. We are all artists and our work of art is our own lives. It is self-expression. It is very human to look for perfectionism. It is what keeps us reaching. It promotes "progress" and we are "works in progress". It is learning to be successful in saying what we mean and meaning what we say. It can be found in a vocation, avocation, a conversation, our presentation, meditation, etc. (anything that expresses "I AM"). These are all reflections of this inner drive for perfection that is innate in us. It is comforting to know that our brain activates and responds to this inner drive and not to the external socially-driven need to be perfect.
As we go forth into summer, let's enter it with a playfulness, with no inhibitions. Let's not try too hard, but just relax and let it be. Then perfection comes unexpectedly with a full, bursting-forth heart, overflowing gratitude, peaceful acceptance and tolerance, and compassion full of grace.
Divine Blessings for a Wonderful Summer! Mary
