Heartfelt Messages From Our 2025 Recipients:

SPOTLIGHT ON A FUND

Dr. Cornelius Thibeault Fund

While TSF’s mission is providing scholarship aid to local students, an equally important role we play is remembering and honoring many of our townspeople and local organizations.

To remember community members, both young and old, families, local groups and businesses in a positive and active way is a significant reason for our accomplishments since 1960 and our continued growth in aiding Wakefield students.

Behind every TSF fund is a story -- of individuals, families and groups deeply committed to aiding local students. One such story is that of Dr. Cornelius Thibeault, a longtime veterinarian and owner of Fairlawn Kennels at the head of Lake Quannapowitt.

With a veterinary career spanning 60 years, he was honored in 1988 by the Massachusetts Society for Promoting Agriculture and, in 1987, recognized by the Massachusetts Medical Society as its oldest living member — a testament to his enduring dedication to the field of veterinary medicine.

Dr. Thibeault had a passion for helping young people pursue careers in veterinary medicine, animal husbandry, and agriculture. In 1969, during a CSF (later renamed TSF) meeting at the Beebe Library, he surprised the newly elected President, Catherine A. Simpson, by walking in and handing her a $10,000 check. With little fanfare, he added that an additional $15,000 would soon follow—a generous gesture that has left a lasting legacy, continuing to support Wakefield students.
