Dear Mill Creek Friends and Family,
I hope this letter finds you and your family safe, happy, and healthy. Although our current times bring uncertainty and confusion, I do hope that families have been able to spend time together and create memories that we know will last a lifetime! I know I can’t WAIT for our Mighty Mustangs to return!
We are continuing to work through the opening of the 2020-2021 school year. However, with the most recent approval of the 2020-2021 revised school calendar, we are more confident in our planning phases. I realize that there are still many questions surrounding us, most importantly the well-being and safety of our students and staffulty as they return to MCA! We have been working and continue to work on our safe and healthy return to school plans and want to make sure when our students return to campus they feel safe and are greeted with “mindfulness behind the mask.”
Team Mill Creek is more excited than ever to get back to learning and embracing the uniqueness of our students. We believe that we are “individually unique, TOGETHER complete,” and we will stand strong as a MUSTANG family to ensure our community is served at the highest levels.
As we continue to capture the excellence and traditions of Mill Creek we will embrace our challenges with innovation, determination, and forward-thinking! However, our priority is forging ahead with compassion and responsiveness to the needs of our learning community, while still providing a rigorous educational experience for our students.
Our commitment to our students and community continues to drive our vision, “The Learning Community of Mill Creek will ensure that ALL achieve their fullest potential through challenging, purposeful learning opportunities where lifelong learning becomes a passion!" We are The Mighty Mustangs!
As we kickoff the year, our learning platforms may look a little different. We will have students return to the brick and mortar building while others engage in learning as distance school-based learners. Regardless of the platform, ALL learners will continue to have the same access to the learning opportunities. As we learned last spring, we must be flexible in our learning environments so whether students are in the building or through distance, it is our priority that we build learning experiences that are blended for students.
We believe that building relationships with students is the most important thing we do. We have to capture our student’s heart before they will ever begin to learn! Although this year, some of our students will be learning virtually for the first nine(9) weeks, the relationships are a priority, especially right now! We will build our schedules so that our virtual students and brick and mortar students will interact with each other throughout the day ensuring that we stay connected in our Mill Creek WAY.😊
Specific learning schedules will be coming the week of August 18 for all K – 8 distance – learning students, however; the expectation is that students will be engaged from 8:25 am – 2:45 pm daily, with breaks for lunch and recess. Although that doesn’t give a lot of direction, we will be communicating at a later date the exact school-based distant learning schedules.
Until then, know that the MCA Staffulty and I are working daily to ensure the success of ALL!
Below is information that will be important to know in the next few weeks! Enjoy the remainder of your summer and we look forward to seeing you very soon!
