Parenting Moments
presented by Healthier Urban Families at Wayne State University
JULY 2022
Welcome to July!  It’s the month of picnics, fireworks, parades, and family gatherings. July is also when children begin to miss their school routines and start to utter those two words that make us cringe, “I’m bored”!  Please see the listing of fun activities that you can enjoy with your children this month. Also remember that although children are so excited when summer vacation begins, they still like and need structure. Try to maintain as much of your family routine as possible during the summer months. While enjoying your summer fun and freedom, remember that COVID is still a reality. Protect yourselves and see the information and answers to questions about getting children under the age of five vaccinated. Let’s think about freedom and independence this month both within our own households and society. See the PowerPoint presentation addressing becoming an anti-racist family, and the articles regarding talking to children about racism. Also included are articles that will help us think about encouraging our children to become more independent and responsible.
