The sixteenth year of The De La Salle School has come to a successful completion. An enjoyable Field Day at Cow Meadow Park on Thursday, 14 June provided the students with plenty of time to play and also afforded the opportunity to share some really great food. Most of our recent graduates from the class of 2018 returned to join in the festivities with several displaying their culinary skills by helping to cook the hot dogs.
Friday, 15 June, we had our commissioning prayer service marking the end of the school year and each students' move up to the next grade. Our awards ceremony was held that day as well and we commended the young men who distinguished themselves by superior achievement in each of the subject areas. It was nice to have a group of parents, family members as well as members of the parish community present at the awards ceremony to affirm the good work of our students.
A special video tribute was made in honor of Mrs. Boniello who is retiring after fourteen years as a teacher and administrator at The De La Salle School. Mrs. "B" has the distinction of being the only person to have taught all 173 of our graduates, many of whom returned on that day to say thank you and good bye to their favorite history teacher. We will miss Mrs. Boniello, and we send her off to her retirement with our love and prayers.
Final report cards were distributed, summer reading assignments were presented, and the students were dismissed with prayers and wishes for a safe and pleasant summer vacation.
From 25 June - 6 July, ten young men from The De La Salle School in grade 5 moving to grade 6 attended Old Westbury Summer Camp at Holy Child Academy. Our students were able to attend on a scholarship provided through the generosity of a benefactor and the kindness of Holy Child Academy. Funds were raised to provide busing and lunch for these young men through the sale of balloons at the annual Gala held this year at Chateau Briand. The day started at 9:00 AM ended at 4:00 PM and was packed with a variety of programs and activities to fill out the day.
Please continue to support us through your prayers and donations. Have a great summer, and as the song says "See you in September!"
Live Jesus in our hearts...FOREVER!
