NEWS FROM THE FOUNDATION

Save the Date for the Foundation’s 4th Annual Upscale Pub Crawl on October 8th, 2025, from 5 to 9 pm , celebrating Banned Books Week (October 5- 11). This year’s theme, as announced by the American Library Association (ALA) and the Banned Books Week Coalition, is: “Censorship Is So 1984. Read for Your Rights,” using George Orwell’s "1984" as a warning about the dangers of censorship.

As in the past, a Pub Crawl ticket enables you to purchase discounted drinks and small snacks from local businesses in downtown Redwood City, while learning about book banning and censorship. While books continue to be banned, part of the Banned Books Week celebration is the fact that in a majority of cases, the books have remained available. This is due to the efforts of librarians, teachers, students, and community members who speak out for the freedom to read.

Spend an evening with other library lovers while supporting local businesses and learning how you can speak out against censorship. For more information and early bird tickets, click here.
