TUNE IN TODAY!
We're delighted to announce that our very own Director of Collections & Exhibitions, Jennifer Madden, will be interviewed this morning on WCAI! WCAI's Mindy Todd will be hosting Jennifer and author Jim O'Connell, writer of Becoming Cape Cod: Creating a Seaside Resort, t he book that served as the inspiration for our exhibit Creating Cape Cod. The trio will discuss the exhibit and take a bit of a deep dive in the evolution of the tourism industry here, highlighting essays from the new Creating Cape Cod catalog.
Tune in today, August 9, at 9 am at: WCAI 90.1, WNAN 91.1, or WZAI 94.3. If anyone has questions, they can call in using the number 866-999-4626 or by emailing thepoint@capeandislands.org.

Speaking of exhibits, have you seen the mush8n? Since 2020, Heritage has partnered with SmokeSygnals, a Native American creative agency based in Mashpee, Massachusetts, to share Wampanoag culture and history with visitors. The Wampanoag wetu and Three Sisters-style garden are two recent outdoor exhibits that delve into the pre-contact history of Wampanoag people living in the region while also sharing what these traditions mean to tribal members today. In late July of this year, SmokeSygnals was back with a new exhibit: a mush8n (a dug-out boat), located in a quiet grove just off of Shawme Pond and the Parade Field. And speaking of radio interviews, thank you to our friends at CapeCod.com's The Sunday Journal for hosting President & CEO, Anne Scott-Putney. Anne was invited to chat about our new Welcome Center, future plans, and upcoming events. To listen, please click here.

While fully enjoying the last of summer, we admit that we're getting excited for going back to school! August 28 marks the start of the 2023-2024 school year at The Hundred Acre School and our tenth year of operation. This year feels extra special because it is the first year that we'll be offering second grade! This completes the expansion of our elementary school program, and we're thrilled that families can stay with us from the time their children are in Pre-K (age 4), experiencing all that makes our program so special: our unique setting, quality facility, expert staff, engaging custom curriculum, and outdoor focus (students spend at least two and a half hours outside every day!). We're proud that our teaching approach results in measurably high student achievement and family satisfaction. It's not too late to join in on the fun - click here to learn more!
