Nature Programs at Hilltop Farm

Summer Nature Programs at Hilltop Farm offer children the opportunity to explore the outdoors. Kids will learn about nature and science, have fund and make friends, under the guidance of teachers and science educators. Nature Kids promotes an understanding and love of nature. Summer Programs includes three age groupings and runs from July 10th - Aug 17th.
Please note: advanced registration is required to insure adequate supplies for each session.
   
LITTLE BUGS - AGES 4-6
Welco
me the summer by exploring nature at Hilltop. Discover the hidden treasures in the trees and bushes, listen to the birds, and look for bugs. Through investigations, games, and activities, stories and crafts, we will uncover the natural life of this area. A two-hour introduction in the appreciation of the outdoors. 
Sessions are Tuesdays from 10am till noon.
Fee for each session is $20.  Dates are:   July 10th, July 17th, August 7th, and August 14th  
 
CONSERVATION EXPLORERS - AGES 6-9  
Explorers will discover the wildlife in the hills at Hilltop Farm in this hands-on, science day program. Participants will see what grows at Hilltop and the pollinators that help things grow.
Week-long sessions are Monday thru Friday from 9am till 1pm.
Fee for each session is $150.  Dates are:
         Session 1 - July 30th thru August 3rd
         Session 2 - August 6th thru August 10th
 
HILLTOP ADVENTURERS - AGES 10-12+ 
Adventurers will look for the signs of animal life in the soil, sky, and water. The soils and wetlands of Hilltop will be tested. Participants also will examine birds and bugs that may pollinate the plants in the area.
Week-long session is Monday thru Friday
from 9am till 1pm.
  Fee for the session is $175. Dates are: August 13th thru August 17th

Children's Yoga Program at Hilltop Farm 
 
The Children's Yoga Program is appropriate for children ages 4 and up. The program is three hours a day for five days. We will perform a yoga vinyasa flow sequence for 30 minutes at the start of camp to warm up our bodies. We will also practice breathing exercises and calming tactics. We will read children's books about peace, meditation and yoga. Children will create correlating art projects that affirm themes from the readings. We will engage in yoga hikes around the Hilltop Farm property, practicing yoga and mindfulness in the natural setting. We will also play various yoga-themed games.
Children will have time for snacks, please provide one from home.
July 9 through July 13 from 9am to 12pm. $150 per child.
 
 
Yoga programs at Hilltop Farm are lead by Suffield ' s Allison Zaczynski. She is a registered yoga instructor and child educator.

Sunday Morning Yoga - All Levels Welcome 
 
Allison Zaczynski will be holding hour-long yoga classes in the paddock on the east side of the big white barn at Hilltop Farm every other Sunday starting July 7th.
Classes will be held from 9am to 10am. 
Class dates are July 8, July 22, August 5, and August 19. $10 per class.
 
Cinema Under the Stars

Join Cub Scout troop 266 on Saturday, July 28 for a showing of
E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial on the lawn at Hilltop Farm.
The movie will start at 8:30pm Gates open at 7pm to give families some time to get situated. 
Bring a blanket and a picnic. Cost is $15 per carload.
Rain date will be Saturday, August 11.
Farm Fest Family Fun Day
our official end-of-the-summer extravaganza!

 
On Labor Day, Monday, September 3, The Friends of the Farm will host its 16th Annual Farm Fest. FOFAH invites you to join the fun at this family-oriented event. People will experience the region's agricultural life and conservation; past, present and future. Annually, about 1,000 people attend this great event at Hilltop Farm. 
 
Exhibitors will include Wingmasters, Birds of Prey, Adam the Amphibian Man, and pony rides will be available. There will also be exhibits on cider making and cow milking as well as food trucks for refreshments. Demonstrations and activities are scheduled from 10:00am - 3:00pm and include games and exhibits in the children's barnyard, and toys in the giant sand pile.  
 
Requested donation is $5 per car.

Ride in for a tour of the farmstead, visit with your friends, and grab lunch at one of several food trucks that will be onsite.
Non-riders are welcome to come check out the gorgeous bikes!

A donation of $10 per bike or car is requested. Proceeds will be used to continue restoration on the big white barn.

Volunteer Work Days
Work Days are held from 8am till noon on the second Saturday of each month. Meet new people, enjoy the farmstead, and make a difference.
 
FOFAH is an all volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to restoring Hilltop Farm into an educational and recreational resource for the community. All donations go to the improvement of the farm. Many thanks to the volunteers for their dedication and community support that has allowed FOFAH to advance the restoration of the Hilltop Farmstead.
