A message from the Executive Director...

What a busy spring it's been! The Arc held two successful fundraisers, our Book Club is back and meeting in person on the 2nd Tuesday of the month and our Joyful Noise Choir resumed weekly practices!

We are hopeful that Aktion Club will begin meeting again soon. However, we are seeking to fill the paid position of Aktion Club leader. If you enjoy working on fun community service projects and would be comfortable serving as advisor to Aktion Club and its officers and members, perhaps this fulfilling, very part-time job, is for you! Simply reach out to me at [email protected] to arrange an interview.

In the meantime, we need volunteers to help us serve beer and wine during the August 12th Live After Five event in the Village of Pinehurst. Please let me know if you'd like to help!

Enjoy these lazy days of summer and stay cool!

~ Wendy Carter

We Heart The Arc
WOW!

What an amazing evening we had at Rubicon Farm for our Annual We Heart The Arc fundraiser. If you missed it this year, we're sorry you couldn't make it, but you won't want to miss it next year! Ladies above are shopping the Silent Auction tables and anxiously awaiting the Live Auction offerings as well.

The Arc's very own JOYFUL NOISE CHOIR knocked it out of the park singing 5 beautiful songs including solos from many of our choir members! Check out photos from the event on our website.
Everything from the appetizers, dinner, drinks, auction items, volunteers and guests were just fantastic! Thanks to all of you who donated, bid on items, sponsored the event and came to support The Arc of Moore County. We appreciate it so much!

Helping Families... that's what we do through
First In Families of the Sandhills

X is a 12-year-old girl diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), who lives at home with her mother and her twin sister who also is diagnosed with an ASD. They were unexpectedly asked to leave the home they were renting because the landlord planned to sell the house. X's mother requested First In Families assistance with the security deposit they suddenly had to come up with for their new apartment. Due to the short notice, mom did not have enough money to pay the security deposit and first month's rent all at one time. First In Families of the Sandhills was able to assist with this which allowed X and her family to maintain a roof over their heads without facing homelessness. We sure are happy to help in situations like this! Your donations and support allow us to help when families are in need.
Annual Prom

Finally, we were Reunited (and it feels so good) - that was the prom theme this year for many of our friends that gathered again to dance the night away to that old Peaches & Herb 1978 hit! It was a delightful evening at The Fair Barn with about 90 people enjoying a great meal from Mission BBQ, and tunes from Party Tyme Entertainment DJ Joey. Thanks to the many volunteers who came together to decorate, supervise, serve and clean up after this fantastic evening. And, thanks to the many family members, house staff and respite workers that supported the individuals who attended our prom this year! Pretty sure they had FUN! We can't wait to do it again next year! (photo: Nick with his summer hair)

Please see photos from the event on our website, thearcofmoore.org under the events tab.

Drive Fore The Arc
On June 10th groups of golfers came together for a day of fun at Seven Lakes Golf Club. Pictured below is the foursome from BVH Construction; Bill, Joe, Bob and Brad who were one of our sponsoring teams. Many teams like theirs golfed, raised money for The Arc, and won great prizes. Our first place team won a round at Pinehurst #6 and second place won a round of golf at Seven Lakes Golf Club. Tito's Handmade Vodka supplied other winners with a cooler full of swag, which was appreciated.

We could not have put together such a great tournament without our amazing sponsors; Webb & Morton, Tito's Handmade Vodka, Stifel, BVH Construction, Business Network Consultants, Thomas Judy & Tucker, Builders First Source, and Masonite. Please support these businesses! And thanks to our volunteers who helped us out at this event. We really appreciate your support!

Get your foursome together and join us next year for this FUNdraising event!
