Member Spotlight: Angie Cox, Nationwide Children's

Nationwide Children’s is one of the nation’s largest and most esteemed pediatric centers in the country. Treatment, testing and care for children and families is closer than ever, right here in Westerville. Nationwide Children’s Hospital strong presence in Westerville includes three Close To Home Centers, a Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center, a Surgery Center, and three Child Development and Autism Centers. These 8 facilities provide a full range of pediatric expertise and diagnostic and therapeutic services for newborns, children and young adults, right here in your neighborhood. Families have the opportunity to be seen by numerous pediatric subspecialists, behavioral health, primary care, physical and occupational therapy, speech therapy, and urgent care. We can also provide laboratory services, x-rays, ultrasound, MRI’s, EKG’s, and EEG’s, all without having to leave Westerville. We are the only location to offer outpatient surgery and MRI’s! If you have any questions about the services we offer in Westerville, please reach out to Angie Cox, Site Director at angela.cox@nationwidechildrens.org.

Business Tips: Expanded Sales Tax Holiday

The ‘Expanded’ Sales Tax holiday for 2025 starts at 12:00AM Aug. 1 and ends 11:59PM Aug. 14. This year the Sales Tax Holiday is longer and broader than ever before. Having a plan in place to update your POS system to be set up for this 10-day period and train staff, if applicable, on handling tax-exempt versus taxable items can be helpful.

Nearly all retail items priced at $500 or less will be exempt from sales tax.  Examples of specific items: clothing, books, plants, computers, appliances, household items, dine-in food and soft drinks, and sporting goods. (Shipping and handling for eligible purchases are also tax free during this time.)

Not included are items over $500, alcoholic beverages, tobacco- vapor products, motor vehicles, and items containing marijuana. Items ordered and paid for, and the order processed during the holiday period, can be shipped after the holiday period. You can reference The Department of Taxation or call their office 1-888-405-4039 with your questions.

Each fall, Otterbein mobilizes over 350 students to volunteer for two hours at a local community site. Students will roll up their sleeves to help spruce up local establishments, paint a playground, spread mulch, tie some blankets, and more! Sites need to be local, walkable (from campus). If you are interested in hosting a group of students, please take a minute and fill out this form. The deadline to register is Monday, July 21st.
