Pan-Canadian School Health Summit

Join in the national conversation surrounding Comprehensive School Health and student well-being!

The Pan-Canadian School Health Summit will call on leaders in education, health, active living, research and policy from across the country to gather and contribute to shared work, as well as build a network of support for healthy school communities.

Resiliency Summit

Join us for this unique two-day event geared towards empowering school teams and providing learning opportunities for teachers and community leaders working with Aboriginal youth. All participants are given both philosophical foundations and practical tools they can use in their work to thoughtfully develop resiliency in youth.
Save the date for November 23rd & 24th, 2017! We'll be in lovely Kananaskis sharing, learning and growing together.

We are eagerly awaiting to begin the adventure of the provincial tour supporting healthy school communities and student leadership!

Summer Institute: Move Your Body, Grow Your Brain

Calling all Teachers, support & administrative staff: have you ever thought of, or are you in the process of, making over your classroom to increase physical activity and decrease sedentary behaviour? Join us to share success stories, work through challenges, learn from other attendees and receive resources to support your work! This workshop is is guided by open space technology, encouraging attendees to take control of the agenda and discuss topics most important to them related to activity-permissive learning environments!
Farewell to a Health Champion with a Heart of Gold

Congratulations and thank you to Kim Hordal-Hlewka:

After an amazing four years, Ever Active Schools is saying thank you and goodbye to our Provincial Comprehensive School Health Coordinator, Kim.  Kim is returning to the Edmonton Public School Board as an Assistant Principal at Michael Phair Junior High.  Kim joined us four years ago and has contributed many key initiatives that have led to the growth and impact of Ever Active Schools across Alberta.  

We are grateful for Kim's passion, knowledge and her mentorship.  Kim is a champions of student well-being and has inspired Ever Active Schools and the many teachers and school health promotion leaders across Alberta.  Congratulations on your new position Kim, very much deserved.  We look forward to working alongside you in your healthy, safe and caring new school. This isn't goodbye, but thank you and we will see you soon.

Summer Workshop!
Supporting Brain Development through Proactive Approaches Using Movement, Music and the Arts in our Classrooms:
We have teamed up with the Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium to provide an experiential day of learning! This day will not only include the big ideas surrounding brain development, but teachers will experience the practical implementation strategies of what the research means.

Thank you to all co-moderators and participants who were involved in our #EASchat professional learning opportunities this past year. We are truly thankful for connecting with all of you on social media to share resources to support school-wide wellness.
