Books We're Excited About

A compelling fantasy about a community that has lost its kindness and neighborliness to a false narrative of the other. In this case, it's an ogress who only wants to belong. Of course, the orphans can see what's true - especially about the mayor ("I alone can help!") Beautiful!

A novel about awareness and one woman's story of fleeing a portion of her life that isn't fulfilling her in order to embrace the ideals that she is passionate about in her 53-year-old coming-of-age story. About mothers and daughters and waking up.

Set in Moscow in the late 1990s, the story follows 11-year-old Mitya as he navigates loss, a difficult family life, and his own gender identity. Mitya is such a loveable character. He's become one of my all-time favorite literary characters.

Set in a recovery clinic for those afflicted by a violent mass delusion, this short tale of who is right and who is wrong is haunting in many ways.

I was completely invested in Santi & Suwa's all-consuming love story filled with music and anime topped off with a dose of fate. This lively and bittersweet novel made my own heart beat in the same rhythm as the paths these two forge as they move up and move beyond their family circumstances together.
