Monday marked the arrival of the official first day of summer; and boy did it make it's arrival known.  The day was a gorgeous summer day.  Sun was shining and the temps in the 90's.

Just because summer has arrived and your grass probably isn't growing as fast, it doesn't mean you should neglect it.  Below are a few tips to keep your grass looking green all season long.
TIME FOR THE 2ND ROUND OF FERTILIZER
As you may or may not know, I am a true believer in only needing 3 treatments of lawn fertilizer.  Now is a good time for the 2nd application.  If dandelions or other weeds are a problem, I would highly recommend using a Weed and Feed Type Fertilizer.  Here at A.G. VanGundy Landscape Materials, we sell a Weed & Feed Fertilizer that contains Trimec.  We also stock an Organic Fertilizer.  Call us at (630) 295-8190 or come in to our shop at 24W733 Lake Street, in Roselle for more information.

Don't forget to water your lawn at least every couple/few days, depending on the temperatures.  Watering either early in the morning or in the evening will prove most beneficial.  I would recommend at least 1 inch of water every couple/few days.  One good way to measure is simply put a can (like a soup can...) in path of the sprinkler when it measures an inch, you should be good.  Your lawn may require a little more or a little less, as your drainage may be different, soil may be different, exposure to the sun may be different...

Having a green lawn isn't rocket science, but a little common sense.  If you have weeds, use a Weed & Feed Fertilizer, if it looks dry, water it...

Of course, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me and I'll do my best to answer any questions you may have.

PRODUCT AVAILABILITY
We still have plenty of Topsoil, Organic Compost, and Garden Mix available,if you're still in the process of installing plantings or even starting a garden.

We offer several types of Mulch (almost one for every budget).  Our Double Ground Hardwood Mulch is our most economical mulch at $25.00 per cubic yard.  New to us this year is a Triple Ground Blended Mulch.  This mulch is a very fine, very dark brown Mulch at is $32.00 per cubic yard.  Our Dyed Mulches are $37.25 per cubic yard and will probably last the longest of these mulches.  Horticulturally, the best mulch that I sell is our Premium Hardwood Bark Mulch at $42.99 per cubic yard.  Our Cedar Mulch is made from Western Red Cedar Trees and has a fantastic aroma to it and is fairly bug resistant.  Our Cedar Mulch is $49.99.  (Note:  pricing does not include tax or delivery).  I know that it can be a little confusing because of the different types of mulches available and the the lack of standardized verbiage when it comes to descriptions; however, you are always more than welcome to come to our yard here at 24W733 Lake Street in Roselle, IL to look at the different types of available mulch.

If you haven't done so already, now would be a good time to install the mulch as it will help retain moisture .
