Measures of Success

Kitchens for Good celebrates a very happy New Year - end of the fiscal year, that is. We are delighted to share some of our metrics of success from this last fiscal year:
Student Spotlight

Nae Leday's childhood didn't provide the opportunity to dream, it was about survival: fostercare, teenage pregnancy, and sex trafficking. Nae enrolled at Kitchens for Good, seeing a chance to flourish despite her past, and pursue her passion for cooking. Since graduating in January 2019, Nae remains employed at Whiphand Brasserie, and now promoted to Sous Chef. Nae recently bought her first car--with pride, each morning, she drives her son to school. Today, Nae is not defined by her past, but instead by her bright future.
Expanding Our Reach to
North County

Kitchens for Good is excited to finally expand our culinary program to North County San Diego. Our students and team are the new operators of the on-site restaurant and concessions at Vista’s Moonlight Amphitheatre. In May, we launched our first North County cohort of culinary apprentices. At Luna Cafe, students gain technical skills and hands-on work experience. It's easy to support our culinary training program by visiting Moonlight to enjoy a night of theater and delicious food.

Kitchens for Good is hosting WASTED: A Celebration of Sustainable Food on Sunday, October 20th! This tastemaker event, sponsored by Sysco, features 35 local and national celebrity chefs. Our chefs compete for a winning dish, cocktail, or dessert featuring an ingredient that would otherwise go to waste. This year, the event features on-stage live cooking demos, an amazing silent auction, and live music.
