Newburyport Art Association presents North of Boston Print Collaborative, an exhibition showcasing the work of sixteen print makers from across northern New England. In this show, which highlights the intersection of classic printmaking techniques with contemporary practices, these print makers were given free reign to create work as they please. The sheer variety in the work on display, from color block landscapes to black-and-white scenes, and abstract expressions of color and form, shows just how far the medium has come — and how far it can continue to go. The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. — 5 p.m. and Sunday, 1 —5 p.m. The Newburyport Art Association is located at 65 Water Street, Newburyport, MA. Two Rivers Printmaking Studio presents Sue Schiller: A Retrospective, which features five decades of work done by New England print maker Sue Schiller. Over the decades, Schiller's work has maintained an abstract and expressive look. Often using layers of paper to build up her pieces, Schiller's prints can range from intricate — popping off the wall and spreading out from the canvas — to deceptively simple. The studio is open by appointment. Two Rivers Printmaking Studio is located at 85 North Main Street, Suite 160, White River Junction, VT. For more information, please visit here.

Sarah Bouchard Gallery presents Don't Show This to Anybody, featuring the work of Tom Butler. This exhibit highlights Butler's work in photography, bronze casting, graphite drawings and more. This exhibit hopes to be deliberately restrictive, denying viewers the visual aspects of the work, so that they can instead focus on the "sculptural qualities of the medium." Butler's aptly named "now don't show this to any body " (2021), is a piece that seems simple upon first glance but opens up quickly through its varied and layered texture brought out by the artist. The gallery is open by appointment. Sarah Bouchard Gallery is located at 13 Nequasset Pines Road, Woolwich, VT. For more information, please visit here.

John Douglas: A Life Well Lived
Monday - Saturday, 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Through Aug. 22, 2022
John Douglas’ memorial retrospective documents his long, productive, and substantive body of work. Douglas called himself a “Truth Activist”. His irreverent, activist beliefs, and Zen-like appreciation of the world fueled his decades of creative output. Douglas unceasingly addressed injustice, hypocrisy, unjust wars, and climate change. In “Homeland Security'' he leverages American symbols and uses himself as a central actor with near complete humility to create a forceful critique of our cultural priorities.
NNEMoCA engages people with important ideas, the ongoing dialogue in contemporary visual arts & culture, and creates transformative experiences for visitors by fostering meaningful dialogue and challenging established perceptions.
