Our 2022 Wall of COOL Awardees were selected for their outstanding work in teaching and learning at Cal Poly Pomona. 2022 TEA SUMMIT
Come and join the 2022 TEA Summit and meet the STEM educators and faculty development professionals to discover the power of mastery learning and specifications grading. We will discuss ways to better support students learning and increase their growth mindset in STEM learning by redesigning the curriculum and the grading system. The TEA training curriculum and teaching showcase will also be shared at this event.

We hope more higher education institutions will join us to encourage STEM instructors to rethink their teaching to better support students' learning needs.

CAFE Summer Institute Doing the Work Anti-Racist Teaching and Learning
The goal of CAFE Summer Institute 2022: "Doing the Work": Anti-Racist Teaching and Learning is to invite faculty to consider together what it means and how to offer a course that goes beyond using generally effective strategies to being anti-racist.

This 21-day remote Summer Institute will have synchronous sessions on Thursdays June 9, 16, 23, and 30, 10:00am-12:00pm. Afternoons from 1:00-3:00pm will feature optional “office hours” for technology help, consultation, and individual feedback. In between meeting days, participants will work on course materials asynchronously.

Participants will receive a $500 honorarium for completion. Books and learning materials will be provided.

We are grateful to Dr. Jose Aguilar-Hernandez (Ethnic & Women’s Studies), who has contributed substantially to the program’s outcomes, content, and activities, and serves as one of our keynote speakers. We also thank Dr. Alejandro Covarrubias and Ms. Audrena Redmond for their review and comments.

Ann Loomis
Meet the newest member of CAFE!

CAFE is delighted to introduce Ann Loomis, our new LMS Administrator. You may know Ann from her work as the Associate Director of the Disability Resource Center. Ann brings a wealth of expertise in student support and leadership, along with engineering and library science backgrounds.

Ann will join us on Monday, April 18th. You can find her office inside Studio 6 in Bldg 1-205C.
